But dayum, the cooler itself is ugly in that gold/orange colour

Should of just released the backplate as a seperate purchase for the Gaming card imo.

Will be interesting to see what these are clocked at considering 1500 MHz on the core is easy enough on the Gaming Edition, also if the power limit has increased etc. Maybe the BIOS will work on the Gaming Edition?

Probally a crafty marketing gimmick, but I still woudn't mind having one or two, I'm easily lead... :o

It's probably no different apart from the backplate and colouring.

    Hope not.

MSI's previous top line cards used high quality components with very well made heatsink, and yet they skimped on fan bearing quality by using **** sleeve bearing fans.

Very odd choice by MSI, when you consider Galax use EBR fluid bearing, and EVGA use Dual Ball Bearing.

I'm just happy that they are giving a non top of the line card the gold treatment. I don't think I need gibbo to tell you that the 970 is more popular than the 980

I bet these definitley have Hynix ram.

I've read that some Gaming Editions have a different BIOS for Hynix versions, guess all the first batches came with Samsung.

No problems with the MSI fans here, the only thing i can hear are the two loud stock corsair fans on h100
