I have seen greats reviews on both, I really like the look of the gs60 and probably want it more. I play a lot of games though, both can run everything very well of course but the gt60 is more for gaming? just want some opinions!

thanks :)

Get the GS60 Ghost Pro!! I have one, and its brilliant! So light and portable! I've come from a heavy alienware, and this is definately the way to go! But that said you pay for the privilege of weight reduction! The GT60 with GTX 870m and i7 4810MQ is £1099. The GS60 with GTX 870m and i7 4700HQ is £1400.

But why not look at the gigabyte ones too? The new P35W can be had with i7 4710HQ, GTX870m with SIX GB of RAM, 8gb RAM, 128Gb SSD and 1Tb HDD, AND a removable DVD RW drive for £1259.

I think the build quality is a bit cheaper as its plastic, not MG-Li like the GS60. but bang for buck is outstanding.

Evil Ras - Please get your facts straight before giving feedback, although end user views are what drives forum content it is important to get these things accurate. Both the lid and the keyboard face of the Gigabyte P35 are metal, not plastic.

This is the second post we have seen where you have quoted this incorrect detail (ie 100% of your posts)

Thanks,

So is the rest plastic then?

Atom. Apologies for the confusion. I was under the impression it was still plastic! It was an honest mistake, and i wont comment on the materials again!

For reference the gigabyte P35 is fantastic value and very well kitted out! I'm very impressed that you put the 6Gb GTX 870m in there. If i were to buy a laptop i might've gone for that! However i won this MSI and thus the choice was taken out of my hands!

Kardam, You wont regret it. Its sleelk, powerful, thin and light. It does get mighty hot during gaming, as any thin laptop will tbh. Just make sure you have it on a table for extreme gaming, and you'll be amazed at what this thing can do!

Not a problem, just frustrating reading what seem to be well informed comments, but appreciate you were doing just that, giving opinion.

Why does this Gigabyte rep get so serious are Gigabyte so bad he has to fight for them. In all seriousness in terms of looks msi win hands down plastic or not plastic but you don't buy it for that you buy it because it runs like an angel and don't set fire to your surroundings.

When i first looked at a new laptop to replace my alienware m14x, i'd been using an ultra book at work. so i wanted something thin. The GS70 looked good, but i didnt want 17". Then i saw the gigabyte blades, and they looked incredible! So much in them for the price! But MSI GS60 melted my heart! When i saw it first, and it was un-named, it was something i wanted! the style, build, power.

The main thing you lose (other than some more pennies!) is the optical drive. but i got an external one for £15 thats as thing as the laptop. i havent need it yet! God bless Steam, Origin, Uplay!

From all the things that I read about GS60 pro I would definitely go for it. When I first saw it I knew at once that I have to have it. Currently I have 17" laptop and for me as a college student it is a horror carrying this every time to college. Its heavy and massive (had to get special bad to fit it as well). Now that I know exactly what I want and have the money to buy it its out of stock. Hope that it will be back soon.;)

interesting. i got the upgraded GS60 ghost pro 2 weeks back. but if you look at the overclockers website, the only GS60 is the basic (still brilliant) GTX 860m version. No sign of any GS60 ghost pro! I wodner if this is because they are struggling to get stock? MSI have said its one of their most popular laptops at the moment. so much so, they're really pushing the "classic" wedge shaped ones like the GT70. same specs, but cheaper, thicker, and heavier!

Hey guys, I know I'm piggybacking off the thread, but what MSI Laptop would you recommend for someone with a budget of around £1500?

I heard the ghost was good if only how light it was.

My GT60 arrived today. Posting from it now.

Impressions are :

-Keyboard is nice and solid, feels good quality
-Screen is bright and colourful, Looks fairly good to me for browsing but I'll try gaming on it this evening.
-The build quality is nice, I expected it to be cheaper feeling but I'm impressed. Im new to current laptops but this feels good with brushed aluminium palm rest and screen back.
-Speakers are really good too. Sound has surprising depth, not too tinny or anything like on most laptops ive experienced.

Definitely need an SSD in it though, Windows 8 is brand new to me and I'm not sure Im keen. Id forgot how life without SSDs was. Its sloooww :D
