Ok, I am sorry to say it but after spending far, far too much money on a pair of Palit 680 GTX 4GB cards, they arrived this morning and have been 100% stable all day on both desktop use (most importantly) and 3D load.
Not a single glitch at all so at least I got there in the end but would still have preferred the ATI's as I find the SLI setup isn't as smooth on 3D stuff regardless of how much it is tweaked.
