As per the title, just built the following main components are brand new with a 5600x processor will not post with a 3090fe, it'll power initially and spin all connected fans then just dead. First light on the 4 on the mb with light for a spilt second.

Seems to randomly then not want to do anything more unless I unplug the PSU and leave it for 10mins.

PSU is a Phanteks revolt 1000w
Ram is team group elite 2400mhz 4x 4GB dimms, tried every combination in each slot from 1 dimm up to all.

Also seems to be awkward booting a 3070 in the primary pcie slot and doesn't like rebooting at all, it'll again not power back on unless I unplug the PSU and leave it 10mins or so.

Oddly it's happy with 2x gigabytes 3070s both running each from a single pcie cable Inc pigtails.

3090fe is more than happy in a older intel 7500 system running from a Phanteks revolt 850w PSU with duel pcie cables into the 2 to 12pin.

I've tired 3 x 3000 series cards in this mobo and it's randomly unhappy, I also had to set in the bios the Samsung 850 Evo Data drive to be CSM rather than ufei as it's using a old windows 10 install. Also just updated the bios to the latest version via MSI centre.

Should I RMA this board, help!

Running that board with a 3090 FE, didn't have to do anything special to get it to work, would look at RMA the board.

Try downloading the motherboard BIOS from here :- https://uk.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MAG-X570-TOMAHAWK-WIFI

7C84v172(Beta version) is the latest.

You will need to update the bios in the bios flash tool (M-Flash), just unzip the file to a fat32 formated usb stick and flash it that way to make sure it takes the flashing, the msi centre way to flash the bios can lead to bricking the board or not taking the bios, have you made sure the bios even took and running the newer version ? You will need to do that in the bios, find out what version you are on.

Instructions here how to use M-Flash :- https://storage-asset.msi.com/files/pdf/How_to_flash_the_BIOS.pdf

Also make sure your 3090 Fe is on the latest bios too, the rebar one which you can get here :- https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5165/~/nvidia-resizable-bar-firmware-update-tool

Direct download to the tool here :-

Thanks for all the help guys, tried with a 3600 CPU and another PSU Corsair Hx1000 and again no luck with it working consistently, sometimes it'll boot fine other times it won't.

I've contacted OCUK for RMA assistance.
