MSI Now Providing 3 Year Warranty In The UK
On Mainboards and Graphics Cards

3yearfinal.png

MSI, the globally renowned graphics card and motherboard manufacturer, is proud to back up their commitment to quality and reliability by providing a three year warranty for any MSI motherboard or graphics card purchased from any authorised MSI reseller in the UK after the 1st January 2011.

Military Class II: Certified for Military Quality Assurance

The launch of the Military Class standard has changed the IT industry, and although competitors followed suit immediately, military-class components are only found in the highest tier of products. As a quality perfectionist, MSI has equipped all the latest Intel Z68/P67/H67 mainboards and AMD 9-Series mainboards with Military Class II components, including Hi-c CAPs, SFCs and Solid CAPs to meet the rigorous US Military Standards.

These include the low pressure test, high temperature test, low temperature test, temperature shock test, humidity test, vibration test and shock test. In either extreme OC or severe environments, MSI mainboards can always fulfill the performance and quality expectations of users.

I don't buy into this marketing bull! Tested in severe environments. Since when has anyone needed a motherboard to work in the jungle?

Don't really like the company or their products. Of course this is only my personal view. A 3 year warranty on supposed "military components." Is hardly anything to shout about. What if the RAF only gave their fighter planes a 3 year warranty. "ahh the wings might fall off in four years, but it's all good. They're military class wings."

Gigabyte for example, don't feel the need to patrionise their customers with nonsense and rely on their good reputation for building honest reliable components (with a three year warranty)

erm...Ultra-Durable??

Besides, Military Class is not about building a board to withstand a nuclear bomb, it's just a demonstration of quality. The fact that our Military class II motherboards are built with such quality that they can pass a US Military standard group of tests is testiment to our commitment to quality, nothing more. I don't expect a die hard Gigabyte fan like yourself to change his views overnight but if you don't own MSI products then this annoucement, quite frankly, is none of your concern.

Will this warranty apply to existing boards at all?
the warranty is back-dated to include any board or VGA card purchased this year.

Noooo...I bought my MSI 5850 Twin FrozR at around the end of last December. No 1 year warranty extension for me~~~~

For me I usually tend to keep a motherboard no longer than 18 months before upgrading to the next thing, with graphics cards it's usually a 12 month upgrade.

The retailer usually deals with warrantys within the first year anyway, although the item in question is sent to MSI Netherlands? for replacement / repair? taking around 2 weeks . . . ?

This is a good move by MSI especially for people who like to keep systems for a very long time.

The next thing MSI need to do is have a UK RMA centre with a 2-3 day turnaround, you might just get me buying your products.

Cool i bought a GD65 last month extra 2 years cover for me :D

How ever the military class is a load of old boll*x tbh but still there products are OK and im fairly impressed with my GD65 its my first MSI mobo always been a Asus fan in the past

Because I don't own any MSI products personally does not mean I haven't used them. I've built many systems and repaired them using MSI products. In fact. I built one last week and when installing a cooler I personally felt the board to be really flimsy and had a lot of flex compared to other boards. I am far from a Gigabyte fan. I use an Asus board in my main system. I am not a fan of any particular brand. I just go with what I see is best at the time.

Perhaps it's best not to assume things :)

I gave my personal point of view from "EXPERIENCE" with MSI products. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as are you.

N.B. Saying something is "extra durable" can hardly be compared to "military class components." I mean come on!

As I said. I was expressing my views... not here for an argument.

If that were truly the case then our competitors wouldn't be copying us.

We were the first to use DrMOS VRM (3 years ago), now copied by EVGA and Gigabyte amongst others due to their efficiency.

We were the first to introduce UEFI BIOS (3 years ago) now it's standard.

We were the first to use the Icy Chokes on the first Military Class boards, now they are standard on most high end mainboards.

We were the first to use Hi-C caps and the first to do a 100% Hi-C Cap motherboard (Big Bang Xpower) and now our competitors are following suit (X58A-OC for example).

We are the only company using Super-Ferrite chokes, lets see how long that one takes.

Whilst the branding that we use might not mean much to you, the fact is that we are leading the way and our components are more efficient and more reliable than our competitors.

Now, at least, we have a warranty to reflect this.

Make it a 10 year warranty. Then I'll buy into the whole military grade parts thing. I'd also buy a lot of MSI products. Surely if these components are so good and military class, can withstand all sorts of humidity changes, and severe environments then surely they should last a lifetime sitting in a cosey office environment?

If the warranty was to trully reflect the babble. I'd definitely make my purchases from MSI.

Do you want a medal or something? Technology is constantly evolving, if your not doing these things, then no point you being here.

Indeed I agree with many that this "Military Grade" thing is a load of marketing rubbish.

Warranty should have been 3 years along time ago "your copying other companies" according to your ethos.

Warranty on "military grade" products should be higher if they truly are "military grade".

Try not to patronise your customers.... MSI is not on my list to buy products from in the future.

Nice to see the extension on the warranty, have to say MSI does make some of the best boards out there at their price - they even hit way above their price at times.

Never understood why it wasn't 3 years in the 1st place though? :p
