Hi guys,

is this motherboard any good?

I am looking to purchase Q6600 next week and have been offered MSI P35 Neo2-FR iP35 Socket 775 motherboard for ~£40.

I'd be interested to hear the good and bad points about it, thanks.

Got an E6320 stable with 525fsb on mine. Love it tbh. Was looking at an upgrade but theres just no point.

Bios is fantastic, build quality superb and rock solid stable. However a word of warning if you get one.

DO-NOT flash the bios in Windows. This is the rule for all mobo's but especially for MSI's Live update thingy, plenty of users have bricked a board using it, I use my USB pen and it works just fine.

Dunno any bad points really except maybe in Crossfire you will only get 4x speed but thats true of P35's

Seems like this was a decent motherboard after all but the chap I was looking to get it off has now sold it :o

However since this has gone, I have been looking at other options and so which would you guys choose from the following:

Asus P5Q PRO iP45

brand new @ ~£100

Asus Maximus Formula X38

used, 1 yr old, retail boxed with everything @ £110

I have upped my motherboard budget to around the £100 mark now, and these 2 are my options at the moment, which would you get and why!??? :)

I will be getting a Q6600 with it and 4GB ram.

Go for the P5Q Pro. The Maximus is a good board, but it's second hand and the P45 chipset is better anyway.
