MSI P55 GD80
MSI P55 GD80.
Top of MSI's p55 range is the feature packed GD80.
We will mainly be looking at the performance potential of this board as Benchtec will using this board with Support from MSI for the next stage of the F1OC challenge.
And now a look at the board in the flesh.
This board has some very nice features, I really like the touch sensitive on off/ reset and green power buttons seen here.
Also in this shot you can see - and + for base clock adjustments on the fly which is a great feature for any overclocker or Gamer. Also shown is the MSI oc genie which is like a magic oc button allowing the user to leave the board to work out an overclock for you.
Probably the most helpful feature on this board for the seasoned overclocker is the on board voltage read points pictured here. I have tested these reading against my bios settings with several overclocking configurations and im pleased to report that im getting very similar reading to which im setting in bios, no serious differences that might raise concern.
Another really good feature is the phase led which tells the user how many of the power phases are in use at any given time during operation.
an important feature particularly for the overclocker as this can be monitored during bench sessions ensuring you that clean power is being delivered to the board while under load or not whichever the case may be.
and another view of the board.
OC GENIE (intelligent auto overclock system]
OC genie did exactly what MSI say it does on my board. from stock default settings with one touch of the button prior to booting the feature overclocked the CPU and ram to 3733.8 [cpu] and 982.6 [ 1965mhz] ram! An excellent feature for gamers.
STOCK SETTINGS:
OC GENIE ENABLED:
Base clock buttons Here we have in my opinion the best thing since set fsb. this feature allows you to adjust your base clock 'on the fly' 10mhz at a time up or down. I'm happy to report that in my tests this feature works flawlessly making it an excellent feature for Gamers or serious overclockers!
