MSI R9 290X Lightning Critical Bug Can Cause Burned Out Cards – Fans Stop Working After Catalyst 14.

It looks like a utility MSI have released not a new BIOS?

I tried the LiveUpdate, it shows no new bios for my card.

Sorry guys, I just don't know. If the live update doesn't give you the new BIOS, can you confirm and I will let MSI know.

This was the email sent.

I think that 'perhaps' MSI had this problem on an early BIOS and promptly fixed it, but there may still be some with the older BIOS kicking around, i think the reason they responded so fast is because they already knew about it, the reason they are asking "Did you try this BIOS" is because thats the BIOS that fixed the problem.

MSI have been having lots of build problems with everything in the last few years, motherboards and graphics cards. They used to be so reliable, it's a shame, hope they can get their stuff sorted out.

Why are you blaming AMD for problems in MSI?

If you bought all those 7xxx series cards from MSI, when MSI were having problems then you are to blame not AMD.

He feels very strongly about letting it be known that he has problems with AMD, the fact thats its MSI is of no interest to him, he has said the same thing more than once or twice around here, he will keep doing it.

The best thing is just ignore him :)

C'mon fellas, let's keep on topic and see if this isn't sorted with the latest BIOS and if the fan control utility is needed.

Keyboard warriors are the best

The user comments at wccftech always make for interesting reading.

If you really want to criticise someone I find it is much better to do it face to face.

I also find it far better to do it using polite language to highlight their short comings in detail. This normally has a lot more of a sting than using bad language.
