It should be reported. Basically what the program does is try's to log into the account a few times, and the account locks because the log on server thinks somebody is guessing the password. The account is locked for a while.

thanks for reply helps a lot knowing what it does because he was spurting some bullcarp about hacking into my account etc etc and i thought it sounded too good to be true knowing his knowledge :p

Does this issue not apply to a lot of internet sites too. Eg forums or membership sites. try a few times and it will lock your account. I guess that's why some sites request you have a username as well as an email address.

Yep ocuk does. It's a bad system as people can purposley lock someone out of their account just by trying trying to log on as them 5 times. Real genius who came up with that system.

Imagine if the users on here did a revolt, getting all the dons and admins accounts blocked and running amok for the 15 minutes. :D

I do not condone this sort of behaviour. :o

But only for 15mins
Very easy to set up a bot/macro though. Would take hours for the real account holder to have the situation resolved, then the offender would just keep using new ip addresses, and the forum would have to change the login system to fix it. It's so open to abuse it's unreal. In fact at my old school, people were constantly locking out other peoples accounts.

Yep, that was rife in my school as well, people would lock their friends out for a laugh, then the teacher would get ******, so you either had to rat on your friend or take the rap, or say you had screwed up your password so many times and look like a tool.

Only way I can think to solve this sort of abuse is to have one of those pictures that you have to type in to stop bots, that way you wouldn't need the lockout either, as the lockout is just to slow down a brute force attack by a bot I assume.

Tell him to block you, then just log into your account with windows live messenger, only msn messenger and hotmail are blocked. So you can just sign right back in and shut him up.

Then tell him some crap like....ah can't block me anymore? Thats because you have been reported to the police.

Might frighten him :p
