Anyone using Crank Brothers eggbeaters or candy's?

Trying to decide if the small platform on the candy's is worth it.

I have a pair of candy sl and they are excellent. However I have never tried the egg beaters, so can't give a comparison.

they get pretty good reviews but for the money its not really a risk many people would take

What sort of riding do you normally do and did you have to carve chunks out of your shoes to get them to fit?

off road cross country and they didn't require adjusting my shoes with a knife
