Right

For the record, i am looking for ways i can legally minimise the impact on my day of this admittedly unfortunate event

If i am boned by the law then so be it

I am not here for moral judgement on my wish to use my car, i am here for valid points on whether it is possible.

So, is it?

Ask an officer on the scene.

If only the police had told you what was going to happen... Oh wait, they have!

Probably not no. You could try explaining and asking nicely, but they wouldn't be stopping you if it wasn't important.

Taxi.

"Oh no, why should I pay out of my own pocket blah blah blah...."

**** happens. Unlucky. Get on with your life.

Seriously, if i have no other option legally, then that's all good

there are many knowledgable people in all walks of life on this forum who might know another approach though - this is why i asked.

I'm quite happy to take my ban for telling you to go **** yourself for this comment.

Yeah it's called stop being a callous git and realise something are out of your control.

KaHn

You're dull

perhaps some of the serving police officers who post might have more detail on the procedure. This is what i'm after, not the tepid judgement of an internet moralist.

If the police have said you cannot use your car because if forms part of a murder scene then I can't see any other option. If you could find a loophole, would you really want to possibly disturb evidence which may lead to the conviction of a murderer?

This strikes me as one of those occasions where you have to wind your neck in, chalk it up to experience and make do with alternative arrangements. It's unlucky but it's life. You win some you lose some.

Like i say, this seems reasonable, but i like to approach any situation with a full understanding

Why would one copper, with no knowledge of the case know better than the copper who spoke to you?

It's a crime scene. Officers will likely be on scene to keep order, control and stop people tampering with it, not to mention statement taking. Investigators will do what they need to do and finish up when happy.

You reeeeaaaally needing your car is unlikely enough of a justification for them to potentially risk gathering evidence and you "lawyering up" to loophole the use of your car from a murder scene is a bit pathetic in all honesty.

As below.

You are being a **** and your only reason is some "hypothetical" situation which hasn't happened, if it wasnt paramount you didnt use your car, you would be allowed to drive it, now shut the **** up and walk?!? or if you are too fat too I'll call you a cab.

Try and keep it vaguely civil.

In that case, I recommend calling the police, asking to speak with someone working on the case, explain the situation and find out what your options are. I doubt you'll find a better way to be fully briefed on the scenario.

Society saddens me nowadays. If I could help a murder investigation by not using my car a few days I would happily do so.

Words depart me. There is so little compassion and manners left in our society today :(
