Murray out of US Open

Anyone see the game? I was watching it on fox sports and he was awful with a very bad attitude. The crowd were booing him because of the way he was acting on the court, as if he couldn't give a crap about the game. The commentators were trying to suggest that he might have been injured, but it was clear that once he lost the second set, he was moping around the entire time. This is what the crowd picked up on. The better player went through.

Worst performance by a British tennis player, I have ever seen.

A rather crappy season for Murray. Things seemed to fall apart after his loss in the Australian final.

Not that bad surely?! He's been on a par with Djokovic and, as expected, Nadal and Federer outperformed him over the course of a season. I still maintain, like Djokovic, he will get the breaks and win a major sometime.

micky mouse comps yeah.

Mickey mouse comps where he's had to beat two of the best players that the world has ever seen, yup.

Admittedly I didn't see this match as it was before my time, but do you know what happened to the last Scot to reach the world's top 100?

Broke his own leg with his racket while serving, ending his career. Arguably the worst performance by a Brit. In anything. Ever. :D

LOL sorry meant grand slam events lol:p

Not knocking you, as all tennis commentators and pundits do this now, but I miss the days when each of the 4 big competitions (Wimbledon, Roland Garros, US Open, Aus Open) were "slams", and it was only a "grand slam" if a player won all of them :(

Well tbh my head isnt right today lol...when i say grand slam events those are the ones im talking about ie wimbledon, Aus, French and US open...Murray just seems incapable of winning any of them...dont know why that is but you would kinda hope that by now he would have won at least one of them...i think he just lacks the mental toughness really.

Sure hes beaten Fed and Nadal a few times but when it comes to the important events he doesnt seem to be able to win them whereas Nadal and Fed have shown time and time again that they can and do win them.

Somewhere on this forum a couple years ago I said Murray would never win anything and I firmly stand by that statement.

If you were so confident you should have put your money where your mouth is, I remember seeing 3/1 a few years ago that Murray would never win a grand slam. You'd probably still get decent odds today.

I think it's been a pretty poor season for him. Murray has commented that losing the Australian final was a huge setback and his form undoubtedly slumped afterwards. Only one tournament win, although he did notably beat both Nadal and Federer on his way.

He'll bag a slam one day.

It's clearly a transition year though, it will be interesting what he does regarding the coaching situation. It could definitely make or break things.

Don't underestimate Wawrinka. Awesome backhand and now has a very well respected coach in Peter Lundgren. Unfortunately he appears to have a thigh strain but if it's not too serious I think he can make the final.

8 times out of 10 Murray would beat him.

I heard on the radio that Wawrinka has never been past the fourth round at a slam before.

He's a good player, not a great player.

Whether his new coach can turn him into a great player, time will tell.

It depresses me how little most people on here know about tennis.

Useless in Grand Slams? He's made the final of two slams only being beaten by the best player ever to pick up a racket...
