Got a mate of mine who is really into making music (or was until she had to move into a small flat and thus sold her piano etc)

I need some advice, I'd like to make her a rig that would allow her to make music, mix it, produce it etc. Anyone got any ideas, would like a usb keyboard of some kind etc, and the name of the software to allow her to play/make etc etc.

Anyone any expierence with this kind of thing, and can give me some links, hints, etc.

Don't want to spend too much (cse I cant!) but would like to make it a professional as I can.

Cheers

Anyone help with this, Xmas is coming and I still have little or no idea!

The whole system will be connected to an audiolab 8000S which has phono in only (but a cracking sound) so the music really needs to be fully developed on the computer, then outputted in stereo (with surround option for later)

Looking to build a pc, and get the peripherals plus software. Keyboard looks great, exactly the sort of thing (and cheap enough too)

Dont need speakers, amp, as she has a full set of kit for listening to music just nothing for authoring. Cheers for the pointers, any pointers on software, mics etc

I use Neundo for most of my production but I also like Adobe Audition for general wave editing.

I've got an E-Mu 1212 soundcard, Wharfdale Diamond 8.2 monitors.. I love my rig! :D

Cheers all, this is just what I need. Will start piecing a few bits together and go down the music route - shame I'm tone deaf and not artistic at all or I'd have a go!
