Musicians who deserve the title Genius?

Tony Iommi. Black Sabbath guitarist.

Lost the finger tips off his middle fingers on the fret hand in a factory accident before Sabbath were established, he initially thought following the accident that he'd never play again. He eventually moulded himself plastic finger tips from a washing up liquid bottle and carried on playing, went on to become one of the innovators of Heavy Rock/Metal, some say he invented the genre.

When you consider he can't completely feel the strings when playing it must be verging on genius for him to have achieved so much as a guitarist.

Are you saying that because you don't agree with anyone in this thread or because you think it's not possible to be a genius?

Everybody is listing talented people but not genius's.
A genius is somebody who thought of something that completely broke the mould and went onto influence millions.
I'd like to think Les Paul as a genius but not for his guitar playing because he probably was influenced by somebody else however he did things in a recording studio that Engineers are still copying.
Somebody mentioned Toni Iommi but he isn't a genius.
What was 'genius' was 4 lads standing in a rehearsal room playing blues and then somebody looks over at the cinema and said that it's crazy that people will pay to be scared and then it is suggested to write scary music.
Now that is still influencing today.

This thread should be renamed "Artists who I think are talented".

I have to say; I agree. Just because people really like an artist, or an artist is very successful (sales-wise) doesn't make them a genius.

Otherwise, where are the Westlifes and Backstreet Boys in this thread? :D
