Are there any major differences between the UK spec and the Japanese import? Are parts, servicing and insurance similar or do you incur penalties for the import?

Any other advice welcome.

Earlier imports dont have the same preservatives underneath so i have read in a buyers guide.
and they have the word Eunos on the back. ;)

You'll find that a Eunos is generally better equipped than a UK equivalent. Things such as aircon are much more commonplace on the Eunos.

I prefer women if I'm honest. :p

Drove the FR variant (yet to blag a test in the cupra), and it was a very nice engine, felt a little more grunty than mine in the mid range, but I missed the initial kick. Not driven the leon DSG, but given that it will be the same system as the MK5 golf GTI, I have only heard good things about the system!

The biggest problem however was the driver positioning and the visibility of the new leon, it was just pretty terrible compared to the older model. I'm also not a huge fan of the styling.

As said, I will give the Cupra a good going over when I get a chance to :)

/End Hijack.

Ah yes sounds similar to a few reviews I just read (about the driver visibility). I think they are a bargain for their price though!

Thanks! ^^

*edit* sorry for taking thread lol

some things are common with all Jap imports.
air con is almost present, whereas ABS braking is less than common.
this tends to be the opposite of the situation we have with UK cars.
the cars that tend to really suffer due to lack of any proper corrosion protection are those which weren't officially sold here.
the Japanese don't salt their roads in winter so they don't need anywhere near the protection on their cars that we unfortunately do.
