Confusing title I know.

I just wish to see how people are feeling to the comments put forward by people on vista.

Does it not tire you to hear people whinging about the os. If you dont like it, dont get it. If you dont have it, it dosent concern you.

Most people are prattling on about how rubbish it is.

I remember the same people slashing win Xp and how crap it was.

People, this is called keeping up with the times, honestly you cant call yourself enthusiasts if you arnt willing to keep up.

This is what makes you old foggys :p (no offense intended).

Is it just me :o or are there others who get slightly tired of people.

 ;)

I'm using the 30 day trial (120) and it runs very quick and is good on the eyes. And yet i still boot into xp for most of the day, nothing in vista grabs me, it's confusing, everything has moved and some things about it really annoy me. I haven't had any crashes or found any bugs but i haven't really installed anything or used it very much yet.

When i tried XP at RC1 it was so much better than 98 that i didn't even bother to dual boot. It feels like 95 to 98 jump than a 98 to xp jump. I will upgrade and i do like it, just not enough to rush the move.

I can't say I'm getting all that tired of people complaining about Vista, I don't go into the software sub-forums often enough to notice.

Personally though I won't be upgrading to Vista until I build a new PC, I've had this one for about two and a half years and it is generally stable enough to do whatever I want so I see no great rush to move to Vista, aside from a fancy new interface and DX10 there is little that would compel me to change. :)

I would be inclined to agree that it wasn't necessary for MS to put out yet another OS when XP has evolved into an OS more than up to the job for most users. One could argue that many of Vista's features could have been implemented as a service pack to XP, and an OS upgrade isn't needed until there's a big demand for 64bit technology.

I'm a gamer who likes to be ready before the games come out when I realise that I need a video card upgrade, another stick of ram, or another OS for that matter :p With that in mind, I feel that upgrading to Vista and DX10 is being done staring down the barrell of MS's shotgun. I'll need it to play the latest games at the best quality. And within 2 yrs, we'll all need it to play games.

I feel that this one won't be a huge success for MS, as it causes a lot of headaches for big businesses. There won't be any mass migration. Why go to all the trouble and headache to replace something that already works? If it ain't broke don't fix it. Many of the companies I've worked for over the last 2 yrs are still using NT and 2000 on many of their workstations. There is absolutely no need to upgrade them. In fact, I've yet to be given a workstation that even has XP on it not to mention Vista. And guess what? It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference.

In its own right I feel Vista is a nice, if oversized OS, and I've had thankfully few issues setting it up. Its pretty, stable, easy to use, and comes bundled with some fairly useful stuff. What I don't like is the marketing - its just like Windows ME - convincing people they need something when they really don't.

did you say the same thing when windows ME came out? if you dont challenge whats new and question how good it is then your not an enthousiast, your known as a cash cow - for M$$$

my personal opinion of vista is that it's far better than xp was at this stage of it's life.

there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff in vista which will be worthwhile sometime, also the better security will hopefully benefit a lot of home users.

that said i've had an almighty fight to get windows mobile device center working so I could sync my wm5 phone, which doesn't encourage me. to be honest all that's installed right now it office and a few other productivity bits, i'm not sure if my perceptions would change if i had to install a lot of other stuff.

also, it departments will hate it, it's too different and it's going to have users pretty confused. then again it's probably not a worthwhile upgrade till longhord server turns up

While I personally don't much care about Vista with regards to my own PC's (various Linux's & XP), I hate the hoo-haa that it brings to my work (for my sin's, the Purple Place). Vista & ISP's seem to be the biggest bugbear at the moment, and trying to talk our type of customers through manually setting up their router? Forget it!

Vista is, and will continue to be, a right royal pain in the ****
