I passed my full bike test about 4 months ago, I picked up an aprillia tuareg 600 wind for £250 and spent around £200 on it fixing it (most of the cost was the trial tech speedometer)
Nothing is standard on the bike, the forks are from another bike. We bought fork seals for it, to find they where the wrong size. So now we assume the forks are not standard. Wheels are not standard, brakes are not standard. The swinging arm is not standard, its on needle rollers which apparently was a mega big conversion. The exhaust was made by the guy before us from scratch, 100% titanium!!! i bet that is worth more than the bike itself....
When we got the bike, there was no wiring what so ever. So most of the time restoring was wiring. They are no fairings on it, but reading up on them. Most people took them off for off roading?

I bought a trial tech vapour speedometer for it, as I wanted something different from 2 gauges. Its probably the best £100 item I have bought in a long time. Looks amazing at night!

Here are some pics :)

Few more images :) Put the polisport halo headlight on it. Dont know what its like in the night but i cant wait to try!

Nope, i have only posted it here :) I'm not active on any other forum tbh.

I am considering picking up the polisport handgaurds but that means removing the custom metal bars. I kinda like the look off them, and i dont think the hand guards would go over them. I don't think plastic will save my hands as much as the metal bars.

Random pic :)

could just make your own plastic/metal shields and attach them to the existing metal bars?

I thought about it but I am not skilled in sheet metal work :( I might buy a set of handlebars that are a different shape to make it comfier for me and attach a set of shields to it.

What are those new tyres, Marc? :)

I had Avon Distanzia's on my DRZ400SM and they were great :)

They are Metzeler Tourance. Switching to these you can really feel the bike. It rolls itself into the corner effortlessly :) Reduced the road vibrations by 100%!

That pic of the carb slide suggests it's been used without an air filter for quite some time...

I've never had it on the road without one thats for sure. We have a home made one on it atm and made sure that nothing can get into the carb. It's very cramped under the seat so we can't just stick a simple K&N on it.

The guy before us bought it from a guy who used it every day but took it off road to race it. He said that he put the carb on it but never actually tried it out. I think the carb has probably been through the wars on another bike. But who knows what its done in its past life. It runs good so... i'm not going to worry about it!
