I just posted a problem in the Windows forum, I was having a bluescreen every 10-15 minutes, then eventually, pc wouldn't post at all. So, I took out the memory and just left 1 stick, came back on fine... Put another, which also worked, in all the slots. It seems 1 stick of 1gb and 1 stick of 512mb works, but the other 2 sticks don't work, they won't post. I tried them individually too, in all the slots. I just find it hard to believe that one of each pair has both died, and around the same time. That's strange, isn't it? I bought them at different times too, 1 pair of 1gb and 1 pair of 512. Never had one memory die on me till now.

Unlucky.

Phone the nice Scottish bird at Crucial and you should be able to RMA your kits and have received your replacements by next w-end.

I spoke to crucial, they said I should try timings first, but I don't know how to change those. How do I change them, in what section? I have a 965p S3 board.

nvm I got it.. they're still dead

Explains the Folding EUE's I've been getting. Just thought they were caused by overclocking my new motherboard :(

advice for everyone with Ballistix PC2 5300
run it with 1.8 / 1.9V Vdimm at 333mhz maximum

I now they are rated 2.2V,but with that voltage they die very soon( although I had it at 2.25V cause P5B do not have 2.2V option)

my two kits are gone in a period of 4 and 1/2 months( about 2 months each one)
Pc starts to freze, eventual restarts out of nothing,IRQ not less or equal error at boot up,BSOD these are few o the symptoms

take out my trusty memtest86 cd, and right there, lots of errors in 1 / 2 minutes

I put a new kit ( who came from first RMA) in the pc a few days ago
I´m running it at 333mhz( 12-3-3-3) with 1.9V sistem completely stable, and the sticks are cool ( not even warm)

let´s see how much they last that time around :D

Should I just set it to 44412 when I get the new ones? they were at I think 55518 or something, by default. 6400

don't I just send them back to OC?

Mine were DOA so I returned them to OC who replaced them within about 4 days. I think after 1 month though you will be better phoning crucial direct, with a bit of luck you will get the scottish lass rather than the stroppy asian.
They will require a number off the ram before issueing an rma, so ensure that its infront of you when you call.

crikey, mine are almost too hot to touch running at 2.2. They errored at 1.8 so I bumped them straight to 2.2 as per instructions. Perhaps I will try to lower the voltage a bit!

Mine were unstable (BSOD/application crashes) at 1.8v so I jumped them straight up to 2.2v.
Should I try anything less than 2.2v? Would 2.1/2.0 be safer and still stable? I reinstalled windows anyway when I knew they weren't getting enough volts but would running them unstable corrupt windows?

2.2 is OK , but make sure to have standard airflow in your case or cool them with a 80mm fan . mine are cooled by a 80mm and i have never had ram failure. the fan operates at 7V so its dead silent

:)

because I have right now one of my kits of Crucial Ballistyx in RMA( flying to UK :p ) and the other is in the PC - I bought some nice 2GB DDR 800 kit in " sales promotion" at the nice price of 47£ / 71 €
( this is half the price I paid 5 months ago for 1GB Ballistix PC2 5300 -unbelievable - :D )

this is going to be a spare ram, just in case!

It´s a JetRam from Transcend,a very good brand with quality products
and it operates with standard 1.8V
This brand is new here ( my country), but I i´m expecting good things from it
