ram
harddrive

I don't know what case he has but it looks bigger than most.

maybe overkill on the graphics card but its just over budget

according to OCuk, the MB supports the e8400,

i didnt put a 3rd party cooler in as i dont know if your brother wants to OC or not.

it may be worth knowing what PSU he has, so we can put one in if it is needed

quad core for future quad core compatible games, a ncie new 3870 xt which will play cod4 etc at full effect at that res:)

4gb of ram too so you can upgrade to vista and not get any stuttering etc ;)

all arround a good board, i decided on a quad core instead of the wolfdale as it has more stock power and potential, and i decided on ATI instead of Nvidia due to the 8800 being overkill, and it would be cheaper to upgrade to crossfire for games released in the next 6 or 9 months for your brother , if he wanted to play them at full quality :)
