My Computer - I click on drive icon but, WinXP misbehaves and refuses to do anything

I have a little problem with some of my computers. It has to do with 'My Computer' and networked drives and hard drives.

If I double click on and icon in my computer nothing happens. But if I right click and then click on 'open' the drive opens.

This has happened on some freshly installed windows xp computers as well.

On one freshly installed laptop clickon on local disk drives work fine, but clicking on network drives brings up 'open with' window.

Anyone know how to fix this

The settings must be in the registry somewhere?

try creating a new user account and see if that one has the same problems

Thanks a lot for the reply

New user accounts do not have the same problems. So I guess I will have to create new accounts on each computer with the problems and delete the old ones. Its strange that happened on new installs, could be a microsoft patch that causes the problem? There must be another away around it. Oh well. :rolleyes:
