(I posted this on an Aus forum aswell and im too tired to edit it so you'll understand everything)
Ok, about 2:30 this morning, i downloaded and watched a ummm... video file (shh). After the video had finished and i closed real player, Outlook and XP's search utility loaded up by themselves. I thought... "ok then" and closed them. And basically ever since then, my connection has gone mental.
Whats happening is, only certain pages will load, 2 out of about 12 of my favorites will load, the rest just sorta hang and do nothing. If i go to Bigponds homepage, it'll only load 3/4 of the page and stop. 80% of the links at bigpond work fine, but if i go anywhere near service status or the "My Account" pages, it will just hang. Also, Msn, Yahoo and basically anything else that needs my connection fail to work (that includes trying to update my anti-virus/spyware programs).
So after a few hours of pulling my hair out, i decided to use a proxy, and bingo... everything worked. But i cant stay on the proxy forever (its slow as hell) so i thought i better fix it.
So far i've tried:
- Ad-aware: Found nothing but a few cookies
- Spybot S&D: Found nothing except the DSO exploit that it always finds
- Pestpatrol: Found some cookies
- AVG: Found nothing
- Avast: Found nothing
- HijackThis: Nothing out of the ordinary
- Netstat (via comand prompt): Nothing unusual there either
- System rollback: As useless as ever
- Checked startup files: Everything seems fine
I've rebooted the router about 300 times to no avail, but im pretty sure its nothing to do with that considering everything works fine with a proxy. I've managed to access the Service Status page at Bigpond and there's nothing listed for my area, so im pretty sure its not ISP related (the proxy i have is a public proxy thru bigpond), i havent bothered to call them yet seeing its 8am and i havent been to bed yet. =/
So, anyway... has anybody got an idea as to what it might be? I really dont wanna reformat again, i only did it last week. =/

), fired the old girl up, as soon as i got into wondows, AVG popped up with its update window and actually managed to download the damn thing! Seeing as i never configured it to use a proxy i was like "woot" and stuff.
