The PCB has that fresh component smell.

The biggest surprise is the breakout box which is HUGE !!!!!

Will post my findings when installed.

I ordered my X-Fi xtreme gamer (low profile) on tuesday and it should be here tommorow as it says Status: Pick in progress, which means day before customer receives or something.

i love the smell of new hardware, i love the smell of factories, Network Rail, Airbus etc, i could breath it in all day lol

Nice what OS are you using if it is XP make sure to use the Beta's off creatives site because they are way better and 2 years newer

Am running Vista x64. The latest drivers appear fine so far.

I was expecting a boost in quality from my AC'97 but this thing is just nuts.

When playing music, the sound is more "Fuller" and more sharp if that makes any sense?

The bass is now more pronnounced, but not in a bad way.

Am off to try some games... EAX style.

Did you have to change anything in the bios so that the x-fi card is used?

or is it just plug play, install drivers, remove old?

Hope you've got a decent sound system...little point get the Pro if you've got crap PC speakers.

Using a X-Fi Extreme Music with Arcam Alpha 9, Yamaha DSP-A592, B&W 601, B&W CC6, Kef Coda 7 and SVS PC-Ultra 13. Not bad ;-)

Still have the onboard enabled and installed. No conflicts, all working OK.

I have a pair of Logitech Z3e's at the moment and even they sound better with the Elite.

Logitech Z5500's are arriving next week

Will they be adequate?
