My Creative X-fi Elite PRO is here - It smells great

The PCB has that fresh component smell.

The biggest surprise is the breakout box which is HUGE !!!!!

Will post my findings when installed.

Am running Vista x64. The latest drivers appear fine so far.

I was expecting a boost in quality from my AC'97 but this thing is just nuts.

When playing music, the sound is more "Fuller" and more sharp if that makes any sense?

The bass is now more pronnounced, but not in a bad way.

Am off to try some games... EAX style.

Did you have to change anything in the bios so that the x-fi card is used?

or is it just plug play, install drivers, remove old?

Still have the onboard enabled and installed. No conflicts, all working OK.

Hope you've got a decent sound system...little point get the Pro if you've got crap PC speakers.

I have a pair of Logitech Z3e's at the moment and even they sound better with the Elite.

Logitech Z5500's are arriving next week

Will they be adequate?
