Hey all

Was just playing some css a minute ago with my good friend Naffa. The map changed and i glimpsed at the OSD of gpu temps. It was reading 99oC... so my initial reaction was to hit my hotkey to put the fan to 100%... but then i realised that my Asus X800XT-PE Fan LED wasnt on... I quit css, and the fan has stopped spinning completely.

What would you guys reccomend that i do? I thought that this is in perfect time for the new Zalman fan?

Or use this as an excuse to upgrade?

Thanks :)

Buy an X1900 at these prices...

Then buy a new fan for the X800, and sell it! :D

Being realistic here... i'm on an AGP motherboard, with £100 that i'm saving for an upgrade, so i guess its a new fan for now :(

I'd get that X800 XT PE sent off to Asus as an RMA. Might take a while but you will get a new toy back. With them not making the X800 XT PE AGP's anymore, who knows what you would get back...

Worth a go instead of throwing out the card.

I say RMA the card ;)

Might get a X850 XT PE or something. Who knows.

YOu could just get a arctic silencer for the card, if you can have a dual slot card that is. Work better than a stock cooler.

If it was me I'd just buy the Zalman VF700Cu and fit it out of convenience to save dealing with an RMA! Apparently ASUS support isn't great either

You do void your warranty doing this though so it's up to you really

Never really dealt with Asus tbh, so I dont know how they are. I know MSI are great though. Back in the day, I RMA'd a TI4200 and got a brand spanknig new TI4800 back. Great stuff.
