3 days ago i go and transfer some funds from a HSBC student account i have into a savings account with ING, the morning after i double check to make sure its on its way but on my ING account it doesnt seem to have shown up.

I quadrouple checked it all and the money wasnt showing up as "funds to be cleared" as it usualy does so i went ahead and made the transaction again thinking the first time id made a mistake or not gone all the way through.

Anyway i check my account today with HSBC and im £170 in debt, so im like o bugger, so i go and phone up ING, they tell me one of my transfers got bounced straight back to HSBC, so i phone HSBC and ask whats going on and they tell me im getting charged £25 for a cancelled direct debit.... well wow £25 for a stupid little mistake and for someone to press a button to cancel my debit.

Now i understand why people get so anoyed with banks >.>

So do i have anyway of getting this back or am i basically gonna have to swallow it and be more carefull next time?

When the nationwide charged me for going overdrawn and then bouncing a cheque for me they hit me twice, a quick phone call mentioning i do have the money in another account and i wont do it again and they refunded my charges.

I didn't realise banks had the heart to drop a charge.

Yep they always have done, just don't threaten them with with legal blah blah over the phone other wise they aren;t allowed to refund them. Just go along the lines of you think its abit unfair that you went overdrawn by £x and you haven't doen it before and could you poss do anything about it , that normally works ;)
