Well have to say im really impressed.
We (my partner and I) ordered the following rigs.
E6300 C2D
Geil PC6400 RAM
Gigabyte DS3 motherboard
7600GT Gfx card
Thermaltake fan

There was a minor panic when we found out the the fans we ordered wernt in stock but a massive thumbs up to Scott @OC'ers for reccommending an alternative in the Artic Freezer 7 Pro, excellent HSF so thanks Scott :)

Had minor issues installing using IDE hard drives on the DS3 as i made the mistake of installing the SATA drivers and that killed the 1st pc so fresh install minus sata and its purring nicely.

Both rigs on stock voltage currently running at 2.939Ghz 31deg C idle and around 46-50 on full load running orthos.

I may push for 3+ghz once the AS5 compound has had chance to set.

Must say once again Thank to SCOTT @ OC'ers for reccommending that HSF

Now all thats left is for me to change my sig ;)

edit: oops made mistake i read your sig..

i was about to say!! 1.7vcore on a e6300??? (your sig, or old sig) lol.

nice oc for first time oc, keep going :)

Temperatures ??

Hmm just DL'd Intel Tat and thryre reporting my cores at 45 & 46 idle yet Gigabyte ET5 reports more like 35 36 deg celcius, which do i beleive.?

TaT shows the Core temps, these can go up to 100C, according to Everest.

GB ET5 and SPEEDFAN are showing CPU temp, which should stay under 60C according to Intel.

Clear?
Funny, when my stock heat sink turned itself off randomly Intel TAT was flashing red at around 80 degrees.

I'll believe the official Intel tool over a third party app like Everest.
Direct sensor on the Conroe > Motherboard sensor outside it.

Clear?

How long does it take to set? Does it make much of a difference between when it's set and not set?

A few days. A week will see it nicely set, although it will continue to set after this.

At most the temp difference will be a degree, maybe two, depending. Most people don't really see a noticable change. When central heating etc is factored in, it's hard to make the test fair, anyway.

Yeah true. I wouldn't have though a couple of degrees would make a massive difference unless you're at the top end of the heat scale already anyway... :)

Again outta interest, whats the FSB and Multiplier?

Are the E6300s multipler locked upwards (ie can't go over a certain value)..?

Sorry to go off topic, but just interested to know how long Artic Silver 5 lasts once it has been applied to the CPU, do we need to say reapply after 1 year or 2 years? Will it eventually degrade & temps increase?

Apologies if this has been mentioned previously in posts, I read these forums everyday so maybe missed something.

Thanks,

AS Compound

Yes roughly 200 hours to set providing you turn pc off at night so it has time to cool properly, then power on in the day time.
Regarding it degrading my previous rig was an OC'd XP2500M which was done using AS5 and that ran for 2 years or so on the same as5 compound.
