Fell of my bike today, roads where icy but i missed the bus to the college so i had to chance it. What happened was i was coming along and a guy/woman in a car infront moved into the right lane, i was slowly creeping along in case i fell off. Out of no where the car turned left ( it was about 4-5m in front and they did not indicate, must have slid forward because of ice?) so i gently pushed the brakes to slow down in case he spun, when he passed i looked right and there was nothing coming so i continued on then the inevitable happened, rear wheel spun on the painted lines then it kicked back on me so i just put my feet on the ground and let my bike drop. Broke the clutch leaver and i stripped the gear selector shaft. Gear stick just flaps around.

Anyways this is my real problem. Iv told nobody of this incident, not even friends. Just my dad and his friend who picked me up to take me to college. About 1-2 oclock i got a text saying im entitled to 3750 pounds. I mean the bike is only worth £500 max. The text did say "pounds" and not use £. Its asking me to text opt in or opt out.
Am i correct that its someone like my dad playing a joke with me? if so i would love to go along with it to pee him off.

put the number the text came from into google and see what comes back?

tried :( was the first thing i did when i was at college, also check number against phone numbers on my dads phone. no match there! asked my the guy who gave me a lift and he doesn't know either.

I've had one of those before when I hadn't even been involved in an accident. The amount of money sounds similar to mine as well.

It's a scam.

I don't post in this section often but this one deserved a reply. This is simply a fishing trip - they've no idea you've been involved in an accident, they send the messages out at random so that those who do receive it think its related to an accident they've had, and call in.

It's not a scam as such, they are genuinelly offernig to represent you in a personal injury claim - but only if you've had a clear non fault accident. It's simply mass-spamming.

I wouldn't even bother thinking too much on it, delete the message and carry on with bike repairs.

Good to hear you are ok chap. Well done on your part for being cautious.

ive been getting these texts saying i can get the same amount of £ for my injury (which i havent had) for the last few months now, best thing to do is just press delete. guess they got my mobile number from car insurance quotes ive had

I've had a company cold calling me with a similar deal. Two callers on different days have asked me about a personal injury claim I am apparently making for an accident last year - though I haven't had an accident and I'm not claiming for anything. The first time I politely ask they didn't call again and I was a bit less polite the second time. Both callers were scousers...

I have had similar calls/texts, amusingly when I tell them it was a fault claim they asked "were there any passengers involved?" followed by "...so they can claim off your insurance for anything". Nice.

Next time if they ask about passengers tell them you had kittens in a top box ;)

Sounds like a scam, as others have said.

I've had these, mine was after an accident though. From what I can see if you report any sort of accident to your insurance company you'll pretty much always get one within a month, they send them out at random as well it looks like.

Same message as above. My girlfriend got one as well recently, she can't even drive.
