Hi guys,

This is my first post here on OcUK, but I've heard good things about the photography forum bit. I'm beginning to quite enjoy photography, but I'm feeling quite limited by knowledge/lack of a decent camera. Anyway, I thought I'd post some pictures I just took in the outer hebrides. If anyone has any comments or criticisms I'm sure that'd be helpful!

Pic 1: Great shot, well timed. Just need to correct the horizon (rotate to the right by about 0.5 degrees) - Also, use the Clone Stamp tool to get rid of the bird in the shot. (top left).

Pic 2: The lens flare ruins this kind of shot. The lake is over exposed. I'd probably make this all about the sky and lose the ground. You can probably bring out more contrast in the clouds by doing that.

Pic 3: This shot is good and has a nice straight horizon. The downside is the noise in the image. This is where a better camera would help out. Have you tried any noise reduction programs. I recommend Noiseware which is also available as plug-in for Photoshop.

Pic 4: I think this is the most unique and interesting shot of the bunch. I think it needs a bit more colour (saturation slider in photoshop) and perhaps a bit of contrast.

Hope you enjoy the forums. Come for the critiques, stay for the photo comp. :)

#3 is the stand-out image in my opinion.
Play around in photoshop and try and saturate #3 and #4 a bit. I think they both need a little bit more colour ;)

Welcome to the forums :)
