My friends computer being gay

My mate's PC (XP with SP2) has been playing up recently, refusing to load windows at all, it turning on but comming up woth messages like this

<windows root> \system32\intoskinl.exe
ARC Firmware
osloadpartition parameter setting invalid
Invalid BOOT.INI file

If he does get into windows it will often lock up after a while.

If anyone has any ideas im sure he'd appreciate it.

has he been dual booting?
try using the recovery console to run fixboot and fixmbr

try what doran said , otherwise, put his hd in your pc, backup his files, and a do an nfts quick format, then install xp again (the format section is part of xp install)

this will stop it 'being gay' for a while, lol
