My good (but horribly sad) deed for the day

Yeah, Dont bother with the card.

Awesome job on finding the owner though, one of the worst things is wondering where your cat has gone. Mine went missing a few years back, turned out the chavy girls over the other side of the street had decided to steal him. But we'd spent a week looking for him. Their parents returned the cat to us.

We were appreciative, while also quietly judging their inability to notice their kids hiding a cat in their bedroom for 7 days =\

Indeed. We lost a cat for 6 weeks when I was younger, it just turned up one day starving, filthy and limping. We'd given up hope of her coming back but there she was. Gave her a bath which she hated :D.

I wouldn't have paint left on my doors if I tried to keep mine inside all day.

Its completely dependant on how you bring your cat up and where.

I have cats, We used to live near a main road, A busy one. I can pretty much guarantee they would be dead now had they been outside cats. They've never known life outside, and they are happy cats indoors. I spend a fortune on food and litter inorder to make sure their requirements are met.

I now live on a cul de sac, when I moved here I did so with the intention of letting my cats out.

Problem is, they have no survival instinct due to be brought up indoors. They get bullied an beaten by other cats, and their claws are not suited for escaping due to not maturing in an outdoor environment.

Letting them out to be killed either by cars in my previous home, or by other animals in this home is the cruel thing to do.

That's nice what you did even though it was so upsetting for you and him.

I was in a similar position a few years ago. My flatmate and I found a dead cat in the middle of the road (it really wasn't a pleasant sight -I can still 'see' the cat now :( ). We brought it to the side of the road and tried to find the owner. A woman came out and started screaming at us, saying that we'd killed it  You could feel from its coldness that it had already been dead a few hours maybe.
I know the woman was upset, but it made us feel even worse that we'd been accused of killing the cat when we were just trying to help :(

Wow, cat threads really bring out the morons, don't they? I think I'll go back to just not clicking any thread about cats

Good job OP. Definitely go with the card - I'm sure the owners really appreciated you taking the time/compassion to find them.

Some cats are like "children" to people, they are treated as one of the family. Anyone who has been brought up with cats knows this.

OP ignore the plebs on here....well done for what you did. Re-think the card thing though. Might seem the thing to do but perhaps not.

First of all well done for what you did.

Secondly I'm going to be honest, I wouldn't do this. I've never had pets, obviously I would be saddened by the death of a cat, especially seeing one. However I would try to carry on my day.

I sound really bad now don't I. :o

You just sound sane.

Everyone loves their pets; but to become so isolated from society and misanthropic as people here have done comparing cats to children being run over or saying they're superior to the human race is pure psychopathology.
