I bought a new case (Coolermaster Elite 334 which is similar to the other 330s) but my HDD led is solid. I tried connected in both ways but still with the same problem. I did manage to find a temporary "solution" which was to plug in the power led to the HDD pins...which sort of works but in the expense of the power led.

However this is something I've never really took notice. Kind ofa daft question :D...Is the HDD led suppose to flash like on/off repeatly even though HDD doesn't sound like it's accessing and thrashing the disk?

Back to the root of the problem, any suggestions as to why it's not working?

What do you mean when you say plugging the power LED into the HDD pins works?

The hard disk activity light will flash when something is being accessed from your hard drive, which like James said is most of the time. I find playing a video stored on the hard drive makes it flash constantly. Its not really the most important thing lol, I wouldnt worry about it too much, just double check you've got it plugged onto the right pins

Try splitting the hdd led tail pins and putting the (+) on the speaker (+) and the (-) on the HDD (-) and see if you get activity.

What I mean is using the Power LED wire from the case and connect it to the pins for the HDD LED on the motherboard. So basically the Power LED light is used for the HDD activity light now and the Power LED wire is not connected.

I tried it again and it doesn't work. It's not a big deal though. At least the HDD activity light sort of works now...it's not like I can't hear my pc anyway! :D
