My Macbook Pro Saga - contains disappointment.

Finally.....(again).....

I have a working and new looking MBP with no scratches or dents :)

They gave me AppleCare as agreed again, I sort of hinted at getting something else, but to no avail. If I'm honest I was nowhere near as pushy as I should have been, but I'm just too nice!
I think free £290 odd applecare is a pretty good outcome, at least now I can rest assured that my mac is covered from anything for 3 years (mechanically that is)

Here's some pics with the iCarbons skin on. Really impressed with it, feels great and looks like real CF too. But most importantly, it feels pretty tough, so will protect the front and back from any scratches......and if I get fed up with it I can just peel it off. £20 from the states too.....bargain :)

I quite like this shot I did, I may even make it my new wallpaper to celebrate! ;)

It's been one hell of an adventure! :D

I'm glad you got it sorted.

One thing though, I doubt the laptops you received were refurbs as every single refurb I've seen has been immaculate, you can't tell the difference between a refurb and a new one. I think you just got very very unlucky.

Same

i've only ever bought refurb apple products and all of them have been immaculate.

You don't have to be an Apple genius to sort these issues out. Apple was once a sign of reliability and quality but it seems that since the iPhone 4 was released they have had production and fabrication problems as well as design issues. All iPhones up to the 3Gs were built solidly and the screens were virtually unscratchable. The iPhone 4 is both bad for its screen quality and grade and the plastic shield around the outside covering the ariel is dirt cheap and only that of a quality I would give a company like Datel in the PC market place.
There is no excuse for quality and no matter what the offer of say a pitant £70 off of £2000 as well as the hastle of replacement. Any fault in quality and replacement should not incur the replacement by a refurbished used laptop. If you buy an item new out of a box you are entitled under the law for a like for like replacement or a refund. I am sure that during the latest economic downturn Apple are not going to want to part with your hard earned cash as well as losing another mug they can sell overpriced goods to.
I have an iPhone 3G and that is all I am happy with from Apple for the moment because I recognised the cream factor. As soon as sales of all their goods went up and Jobs was dictating to the market what he did and didn't want, I knew the production value of any new item brought from Apple would fall in the next five years. My 3G is still working but I know of at least 80 sorry customers of the iPhone 4 whom have changed their phone to something else other than Apple and are still tied into 18 month contracts.
I wish all of you who are suffering at the hands of another Microsoft enterprise the best of luck in resolving your issues. I say this as I get an issue with my old MacBook and Snow Leopard. It comes up with what Windows used to back in the days of windows 3.11 and 95. These are Page fault errors.
