Basically i need a new rig, just using my cousin's for web browsing and my bros AMD 3500+ and 1950pro for some casual gaming. But since i sold my primary rig back in Jan 07 i need something more powerful! With the new line of games coming out like COD4, HL2-EP2/TF2, Crysis and NFS-ProStreet i want to run all the nice eye candys!:D

So what do you think of the above? I have a OS already and a nice long lasting Dell 20.1Widescreen going. The only concerns i have at the moment with the spec above is:

1. Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B CPU Cooler, is there a different with the eariler spec revision model sold here on Overclockers? There's about £5 different and want know which one should i be getting. I'm planning to overclock to the standard 3Ghz and above.

2 Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU, i know there is a slightly cheaper PSU from Corsair (£30 cheaper) but is that going to be as good as i should have it?

3. Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R, i see a lot of people are going for this. Is this the best board for overclocking and futureproof as it supports DDR3. Is there anything else i should be looking out for?

4. BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB, is this a respectable GTX 8800 card? As i want all the eye candy for my games and upcoming games will this card be able to handle almost everything i throw at it?

And finally I'm missing one component from that rig and i want to know how does a lot of people feel about it. The Hard drive. I want the best performance hdd with out slashing out too much. I know games like BF2 take ages to load between maps and i want to reduce that as much as possible. Is getting a single 150GB Rapture good enough for that and continuing using my 250GB for storage and porn?:p Or should i get one of those newer hdd that run at 7200.11 and RAID them?

If you have any suggestions or alterations then i would appreciate it. Thanks!

All 8800GTX cards are respectable, save yourself £50+ and get the OcUK one.

The 500GB Samsung drives are about the same speed as a Raptor and offer far better value for money plus they're quieter.

Cooler wise the Thermalright Ultra and Tuniq Tower are slightly better than the Ninja.

Looks very nice, mate. I do agree with Raikiri though, particularly on the cooler side of things.

Dont get raptors they are loud and not really needed. Get a Western Digital AAKS 250GB+ HD. Also save some money and get the 520 Corsair, the 620W is only needed for crossfire/SLI rigs. Im running the 520W corsair in my rig below and it doesnt even break a sweat. Tuniq Tower 120 for the cpu cooler as well.

Cool COol, thanks for the update. With the OCUK graphics 8800GTX, are they at the same speed and hows the warrenty with them?

I dont think i will go for Raptures now since they are so noisey.

SS-89. Why are people going for the 620 so much then? Thought that that the best rails for these kind of rigs?

Also is people are goingto put suggestions can you write some explaination please. It doesn't make sense if you just put a different product suggestion.

you could save a bit here and there, get the corsair 550w vx psu, and wait till next month for the new gfx cards which are gonna be cheaper and more energy efficient.

Well, considering that I own a 6800, that died 4 times since 2005. I think, it would be wiser to get a branded 8800, such as eVGA, so you can get unlimited warranty.

Assuming you're using Vista, will it be 64 bit? If so, may as well stick another 2gig in there for another 40 quid tbh. Oh, and the Tuniq Tower seems to get better reviews than the Scythe Ninja, I think.

I'd get a Gigabyte P35-DS3R instead. its identical to the P35C-DS3R, but only takes DDR2 ram. I suggest this because DDR3 ram is still in its infancy, and i'd expect/presume that when most people upgrade to DDR3 they'll buy new mobos too.

Also, do you really need the X-fi? the P35 has pretty good onboard sound. my new PC is identical (down to the case) as your spec, except i'm using onboard sound, double the ram (same type though!) and a Noctua HSF

Now thats two people who says to get the 550w instead of the 620w. Why does everyone who gets a new build spec always put in the 620w instead of the 520w? confused now.

Really? I did think that but people did suggest get the unbranded one as its just like the others but a different sicker on top.

No, no vista yet till gets the new SP1 installed. I had it installed once and it wasn't compatiable with half the software i used at the time.

I want the X-fi because i dont want any of my hardware to stress when i put high settings on my games and i know if you have good enough speakers you can enable all the fancy stuff to do onboard sound can't.

*UPDATE*

Now i got paid, just going to buy this....
