My new blog project.

"Pretty sure she got her wabs out..."

*sigh* and I was hoping for something other than the usual OcUK drivel.

Great resolution. A blog is a lot of work but can be really satisfying - especially if you build up a nice community of readers. Once a day is ambitious but all the power to you if you can keep it up! I would say that 3-4 times a week is more than enough. People tend to read blogs more during the week and at different peak times so maybe take that into consideration. If you use Facebook or Twitter that is a great way to get some of your posts out there. Thanks for sharing - will keep an eye out!

Well the picture was the first thing that caught my eye and that was the caption :(

Well, I suppose it's something I should be mindful of - which makes it good feedback, so thanks. I'd ask that you read the rest though if I haven't put you off too much :)

Great update, well done for having the balls to stand up there - don't suppose you can put the video on youpube?

The video of my debut can be found on
I didn't want to link it on the blog as I've come quite a long way from that recording. Hope you enjoy it though :)

I must have missed that bit :o, may I ask why you are blogging today for a date from 2009?

It was my first go at stand up, quite an event for me so I just thought I'd prattle on about it. Plus literally nothing has happened today that would be more interesting and I'm avoiding twitter-length posts as updates for now, so I've got some things to write about in reserve.

Cool, just watch the video and was impressed! Some comedians are really not that funny but you seemed to pull it off and made me lol. :)

Feel free to post any more videos that you have.

It's nice to put a face to the blog, so to speak. :)

Thanks sigma :)

If you're on facebook, my last video from October is at http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150279583145038&oid=61013309937&comments

Same venue too!
EDIT - Was also my first gig after a six month break so a bit rusty :p

Lol at the password joke, guess not many found it funny but that's right up my street lol. :D

I guess it's pretty hard to create jokes that you think people will find funny without offending them, quite a fine line I imagine.

Does the nerves thing just get better with time?

Edit - that video seems to be open to the public as I wasn't logged into FB when I watched it.

The first part of the password joke everyone loves, I've had pro's tell me that they wished they had thought of it :p The second part, is a slightly more geekier reference, but if at least a few people get it, it's worthwhile :) It went down hugely in Brixton, which is odd because I thought i'd get arrested..

It's bloody hard writing material, harder than I ever expected. By far the most difficult thing, is that the only way to test stuff, is to perform it in front of an audience. If you rehearse to yourself, or tell friends, it always comes out differently and you can't gauge reaction. On top of that of course, every audience is different.
Being offensively funny is easy, but I try not too - I don't even like swearing (but I do anyway, it's natural for me) I like to think I can be smarter than that. Doesn't stop the odd cheap gag though :p

Nerves, well they're always present - learning how to cope with them is the key I think, it's realising that the feelings you have are caused by adrenaline, which is preparing you to perform. It sounds cheesy but it's about trying to enjoy the feeling rather than feeling sick from it.
