My new car. Mazda 3 MPS

Yes a Mazda employee who had owned both the ST and the MK1 3 told me that if I had already tested the ST there was little point of testing the 3 as the ST was leaps and bounds ahead of the 3.

Or he gave his honest opinion rather than trying to sell me a car he didn't have?

You've no idea what he meant - but super amusing that you decided to take his word for it and not bother finding out for yourself. You went to the trouble of visting a Mazda dealer to try the car out yet his word was enough to stop you bothering to find another. I've had conversions with BMW salesmen who were convinced that the 320d is so awesome, that the 335i is pointless. Newsflash: Salesmen can be trusted only to take an order for a vehicle, not to offer any sort of useful, insightful or credential opinion. Anyway who uses salesmans opinion for any decision other than 'Should I LOL' is very daft.

Suprised you even bought the Focus ST given you are infact on record, on this forum, stating quite categorically that the Corsa VXR is the 'best all round car' for less than £20k.

Wow, will you ever stop quoting that completely inaccurate and out of context statement to try and win arguments?

The salesman had owned both, having spoken to him myself, and going on what I had read/watched in terms of reviews I chose to believe him yes. If it was as simple as driving 10 miles down the road to test one, I would have - however when there is the most expensive stretch of water in the world (per mile) to contend with, it isn't that simple - I have to weigh up the pros and cons, and I chose to believe the reviews and the salesman (who I gauged as 'having a clue' after a good half hour talking about cars).

Having driven neither, I don't know how you can dispute this.

It's not inaccurate at all. It was your opinion when you first began posting on a regular basis in Motors. You actually beleived that, as an all rounder, nothing was better than your Corsa. It's amusing and provides useful context to some of your other opinions/stories.

You mean this:

Yes, I find it quite comfortable as far as nippy cars go, like I say, I've yet to experience anything that can match it as an all round package.

I'm not saying no other car is better, I'm saying as an "all round package" factoring cost/value, performance, handling, comfort, running costs and even tunability; it cannot be beaten (*for the money) at the moment, in my opinion. (Old, depreciated cars aside)

Thats a far cry from me say saying its the "best all round car for under 20k".

Now you can put your lying, inaccurate, out of context quotes down.

Thanks.

(*Clarified over several other posts of discussion - feel free to actually read the thread you claim to be quoting from)

Err if it cannot be beaten it must be the best. If it wasn't the best, it could be beaten.

It clearly can be beaten, by the Focus ST. Which is why you got rid of it :p

Whichever way you phrase it, it was hilarious. Saying a Corsa VXR 'cannot be beaten' as an all round package. And then selling it and buying a better car :D

But I had to change from a < 1 year old car to a >2 year old car as well as spending £2500, suffering higher insurance, higher fuel consumption and even higher depreciation.
