M reg VW Golf 1.9 diesel :D

I got it for the grand sum of £0 :D

It's been standing for a year but was a solid runner before then. It's done 250k I think but had a new engine fairly recently and had been serviced every 10k.

Some body rust, but I don't think anything terminal, interior is in good nick, few bits of engine slightly rusty and it doesn't start due to a flat battery (at least) but hey, it's free :D

I'd love to give that a makeover, something about seeing the fruits of your labour afterwards that really makes me tick.

And good job on it being a VW and a Golf.....even if it is a mk3 :p

I will tart it up a bit, but at minimal cost, can't really do anything with the rust around a couple of the arches I guess?

It just needs to be able to get me to the train station each day and be parked there, but anything else is a bonus!

Get it through the MOT? It will fly through - It's a VW. ;)
I spent more on getting VW's through the MOT than any other car I've had!

Don't polish it, it looks great like that.

Is there any way of working out the engine/trim level from the reg plate?

I know it's a 1.9 but they seem to come in all kinds of different versions according to Parkers. It may be the massively powerful 64bhp version :p

My first car I drove on my own. Cost a fortune to run. Absolute fortune.
I doubt that. A bit of money, perhaps, but relatively speaking these things cost peanuts to run.

She kind of comes free with it, it's my girlfriend ;)

Dup, I doubt it will, if it costs much, I'll ditch it. In any case, it'll be used in place of a car that relatively speaking costs a lot to run.
