My New Toy!!!!!

Did you get a Icy Vison in the end?

Not yet, I've had other expensive items to purchase of late, but it's definately on the "to buy" list. Cheers for the heads up though :)

How are you finding yours anyway? Worth the price, is it substantially quieter?

Superb mate, haven't had temps go over 65c yet and thats with a 850 overclock and volts increase,a right pain to fit mind took me around 2 hours including taking off the Nvdia stuff.

Its really quiet compared to the Nvida cooler even when on 100%!

Have it connected to 5.25 fan controller and fan is only on around 50-60%,the Zalman looks better but is a lot more expensive when you consider the icy vision does a grand job.

Very satisfied:)

I only picked you up on it because you're a massive grammar nazi yourself, anyway it was meant in jest hence the winking smiley face
If it was meant in jest, I apologise, I thought you were being serious.

Still waiting for some concrete details of release dates for these AMD cards, you have any?

? Did you miss this part?
So you're choosing to believe one rumour over the other, for what reason exactly? Where's the "cold hard evidence" that it's "some rebadged, reworked 5770 which may only be slightly quicker than a GTX 460"?

Anyway, basically all I have to say is well done on buying an amazing card, and don't listen to the people who say 'should have waited until the 6*** series' because it is utter nonsense. This card will blow most cards out of the way so enjoy it:)

Apology accepted :D

No I didn't miss that part, like I said I'm waiting for somebody to give me some evidence that the new AMD high end part (6970) is going to be released this month. It appears that nobody knows when this is likely to be.

From the "rumours" it looks like the mid range part is to be released this month, with the high end parts coming around Nov/Dec.

If these "rumours" are true then fair play to the op, he has a nice shiny top end 480 with quality cooling for considerably cheaper than I paid for my reference card at launch and he's not waiting 1/2 months (who knows?) for something that isn't likely to be much faster anyway.

Even if ATI somehow rush out their top-end 6*** by next week: He'll end up with card that's a bit faster than this, but with a crappy loud stock ati cooler, and still have to wait 2 months for somebody to release a quieter version.

but i bet the crappy AMD stock cooler will not need to be run as fast thus making it loud and not making him require a better cooler,

Seems the ati stock cooler on the 5870 is still quiter than the kfa2 gtx480 when at factory settings. Link below. Some people really need to get there facts straight before they post. Its a well known fact that the 5 series cooler from ati never produced much noise and its probably a good bet the same kind of cooling will be used on the 6 series.

Enjoy your card op it looks a beast and should perform like one. Whatever the 6 series brings the gtx480 will still be a very good performer.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay, had to move my hard drives around a bit to make room for this MOTHA of a card.

Well here are some pics of it in my system.......

WoW, that's better temps than some water cooled solutions doing the rounds. I would 100% get the arctic cooler but I'm happy with my current case so it's out of the question, going to go with the Zalman VF3000F.
