Hey everyone,

Thought I'd share my most recent purchase - a YBR 125 :) Bought it just under a month ago and it's been a hoot to ride.

Bought with around 20,000 miles on it. It's a 2012 plate and cost me less than a grand so rather pleased with it :D

Whilst I wait for a buyer to purchase my RX8, thought it would be a great way to stay mobile if I don't feel like a bike ride or walk to work.

For those wishing to do their CBT and become a learner rider, here is a break down of costs so far:

£350 on RST Textile gloves/boots/jacket/trousers and a Duchinni helmet (had a discount voucher from my CBT).

£225 for Third Party Fire and Theft insurance (as the compulsory excess was far too high on a comprehensive policy)

£130 on the CBT

£4 on L-plates.

£60+ on a very heavy duty chain, anchor lock and shutter padlock.

£17 annual tax.

For reference, I bought the insurance at the age of 30, but lack of experience is probably what did me over (and the area I'm in)

Plan is to get my two practical tests passed in March so I can get rid of my L-plates :) I do enjoy riding my YBR though, so I may need to keep it!

Thanks for all your replies! Really itching to get back on it as I haven't really had the chance to this week. I'll probably manage to this weekend :)

Booked my module 1 unrestricted test for the end of April and I should probably book my module 2 asap too.

Mods wise I'll probably get the iridium spark plug done for the service this March and the tyres as well. Brakes I can do myself though when they need doing. I'll look at the exhaust system in the next few weeks.

Really looking forwards to putting the miles on it though :-D

That's a fair point tom_e!

I bought front pads a while back ready to fit, my wear indicator still shows I've got some meat left on the rear shoes as well but I should prioritise tyres and the spark plug I think and look at the air feed system as well. But as has already been mentioned, I probably shouldn't chase power and put the good money on a big bike.

I'm going to probably go for an extended ride this afternoon to this evening, maybe find a quiet area to practice low speed manoeuvres too in preparation for my mod 1 practical.

There is a Yamaha dealership near me, who will be able to do my service for me. It looks like the services were done every 6 months by the previous owner - does that seem reasonable for a bike?
