My phone now seems to have two spell checkers

Since I can remember my android phones have had auto correct on the keyboard as a row of words just above the keyboard and this has worked ducking fine for a decade or so.

But now I have another spell checker that comes up as a drop down list of words from the mistyped word and I get a red line under a mistyped word. it doesn't happen all the time though but does happen in all apps so it isn't just a browser thing or WhatsApp thing. Anyway it rarely works and seems to prevent me using the keyboard auto correct (which is preferred as I don't have to move my hands away from typing position) when the other auto correct comes up.

Any ideas how to do disable the second auto correct.

I have a pixel 4 with the standard Google and, android keyboard and I haven't installed any other language pack?

From a quick Google of "two spell checkers pixel", it seems seems this is a common issue in that model. Have a look and please let us know if it fixes your issue
