Hey guys,

I have my system all running and stable, the issue im seeing now in RYZEN MASTER is that the cores idle at around 1.2ghz then boost when needed, but on mine, the cores are all ok doing this EXCEPT on core 8?

It seems to stick at 3.2ghz and so my idle temp is around 50c and wont budge or fluctuate down to the 1.2ghz that the other cores do?

Can someone please shed some light on this?

Um, any applications or services thrashing that core?

i have just tried setting the power delivery to "power saving" mode and it drops the cpu frequency to 1.55 on all cores, BAR the 8th and that stays at 2.7ghz?

I have put it back to "balanced" and the same issue originally present is recurring..

On that picture the core temp is 58C. That is definitely not idle.

Even where the chip doesn't clock down (i.e. when you overclock), it is far cooler at idle.

your right, it was fluctuating up because on the constant 3.2ghz it was on, now that im in Power Saving mode, the core eight is at constant 2.7ghz with the other cores at 1.55ghz and the average temp is around 35c. so im assuming if i can get that last core sorted it should idle like the rest and possibly around 30c doing a few tasks..? does that sound more reasonable..?

hey guys,

just installed the new CPU like 30 minutes ago, still the same result

core 8 still fixated at 3.2ghz...could it be the motherboard im using atm? all other things seem fine? :

ssd, hd, gpu, case fans, ram..?

i dont have a lot of bios features either being a b350 mobo (Gigabyte GA-AB350M-HD3AM4)

so im 99% sure that the CPU can be ruled out..

Install 17.10 Chipset drivers and use the Ryzen Power Profile. If you have C states enabled in the bios (should be on by default) then the CPU clock down when idle. Note, software won't report on it this as it cannot read the Ryzen Sensi MI behaviour and it will just report off the last known P state.

thanks matt, installed the drivers..the thing that is confusing me is that i cannot get temp readouts on the MSI AB or on the RYZEN MASTER software the power usage all fluctuate, apart from core 8 which is sitting at a constant 3.2ghz??

another thing guys, in AFTERBURNER, my CPU usage on the cores / threads are all minimal when idle, but the 16th thread is almost maxed out at 98% constant..?

and on HARDWARE MONITOR the core #7 is using around 4-5W and the rest are o.xx etc..

Ryzen master uses 16th thread at max so if thats open then close it.

Ryzen Master and HWINFO64 should provide accurate core temps.
