Ive seen Diesel catch fire first hand as well, A local bus companies bus decided to smoke the entire way up the local industrial estate then realise he has a fire in the back OUTSIDE a petrol station then gets out and legs it to his depot to get help.

well funnily enough, at that point i was JUST ringing 999, the video was literally 15 seconds!! after i got out of the van, the fire engine had just been to another call and was rtb when he found me lol.

a wee while ago I drove past a (white, kinda similar) van that had pulled over onto the hard shoulder, smoke was pouring out from under the engine/back of van, as we drove past we heard it bouncing of the limiter! The two guys in it had got out and legged it 25 metres back up the hard shoulder. The van was imminently about to catch fire/pop its engine but traffic dictated we had to move on

That sounds like it was running on its own oil, they should have stalled it!

nope but ive had that happen to me before with a nissan primera dci
i was at manchester airport, engine eating its own oil bouncing at 10,000rpm
needless to say smoke everywhere arming police everywhere (1 week after 9/11)
