A shame your 15 and won't actually be buying any of this stuff, this is like the 10th thread to sort your system out.
From what I can see in your post history you've been just trolling it up, maybe trying to get to 250 posts?
tbh I always thought it's the otherway around - extreme boards like the rampage 3 is aimed at enthusiasts and thus will have tons more options in BIOS making it more confusing for a oc novice.
One thing though the rampage will give you sli/crossfire bridge but I'm not sure if cheaper boards will give you one, still they should be easy enough to buy anyway.
The PCI-E lane spacing shouldn't be a problem unless you're planning to sli more than 2 cards? What case are you using? Like others here I would just get a cheaper board with a 5970 and maybe a 64gb C300, then get another 5870 later for tri-fire but you seem pretty determined to go down the rampage 3 route.
LOLOL NERD RAGE!!!!
nah the programs u can use with the board lets u overcock in real-time
with windows running. seems far easier to me instead restarting and tweaking in bios a load of times.
Learn to type and stop trolling, pleeease.
This thread has so many opinions in it and all you've done is ignore pretty much everyone advise.
God save the people of Tenerife ..
Also I agree that board will probably be too complex for him, nice simple board with enough settings but nothing ridiculous, max you really need to get a decent overclock is 10 settings.
Still if it crashes it crashes, not really that much help ..
//see what I did there, edited a thread not to double post, learn it..

and you know you could spend the same amount and get a much better system with an SSD included and two 470s or even 480s. But you dont care - it's not your style. I could post you a spec that destroys yours in gaming for the same money but you'd just ignore it so i wont bother
.
This thread seems to have lost its way, I went all out and got the rampage 3. think i got a crappy 930 though as its not liking going over 3.6 so just because your getting this board doesnt guarentee you 4ghz+. that aside its got stacks of features and i had the spare cash so thought why not. if you have the spare cash then you really wont regret it but otherwise get a cheaper one, like you said its only a good weekend more expensive!

LOL why the **** would i want to "impress" a bunch of e-fellas,, wiseup would ye!
im taking advice, im gonna cut down the psu a bit and just gonna get a single 480 instead of x2 460s, these wer suggested and im doing it.
Laimpope is just talkin **** again, why would you want to spend the same
amount of money but end up with an i5. its DAFT!
Add: just forget about the board im getting it,,, pi55 on the rest of the spec then so i can tweak that
, i know somebody that spent £4000 on their rig and doesnt run games any better really than mine mainly due to the fact its all xbox and ps3 ports so a gaming rig with an i5 quad core probably would be just as efficient for gaming.
. How's about 2 470s, a C300 SSD, a Bluray writer, and a soundcard for the same price?...

Oh go on then - I said I wouldn't bother, but just for you jakesnake. I even resisted my deep i5 fanboyism and kept your i7. How's about 2 470s, a C300 SSD, a Bluray writer, and a soundcard for the same price?...

No? You'd still prefer to stare lovingly at your 'bling'?

sound card isnt really needed to be honest, jeez nice basket!
Get in! Jake mentioned having expensive decks (he thought expensive decks would make him a better DJ) in another thread, so I figured he might have a hi-fi to output to and appreciate the soundcard. Not that he'll consider this or any other spec at all though. Ah well.
