I have a sb audigy 4. Console is set to 5.1. I'm running the latest drivers too.
The base (explosions etc) is being sent the other speakers instead.
Funny thing is that the sub does work in COD4 and QW, so that means that it does work. It also works when I play a DVD with vlc player.
I have tried contacting steam/valve, but they have no answers.
My theory is that its a software problem with source games...
