My test next Thursday, any tips?

yeah, i've failed 1st time because an idiot crossed the road in an abrupt way and made an emergency brake because i was just a few meters before the guy. The examiner just touched a bit the brake paddle, making me fail for no reason. If I claim that, I would have 2 examiners with me and test paid. is that worth it? NO! 4 eyes instead of 2. I'm having mine nxt Thursday at 10.30AM, wid u xD. Wish luck for d both of us!
I reckon it was the talking with my instructor that got me my pass (First time with no minors might I add
). Spent pretty much the whole test talking about her Jaguar XKR and the long list of problems she had with it. I absolutely hated it at the time (I remember shouting in my head "I don't care, I'm trying to concentrate!") but it kept me on the straight and narrow and got me my pass If you make a mistake just carry on. There were two moment when I thought I messed up, once when I misjudged traffic and very nearly blocked off of a junction, and the second was when some old sod was riding one of those mobility scooters in the road, and I was told to take the next left just in front of where he was pottering about at 5MPH. I decided to zip in front of him and "cut him up", but I was convinced that it was a fail, but I continued and was fine.
Oh, and the last turn in to the test centre was a busy blind junction, I spent about 10 minutes waiting for a opening and again was convinced that I'd be done for hesitation. When we got to the test centre the instructor congratulated me for not falling at the last hurdle (that junction) and said that I had passed

Most important is to be aware, so if your test is in the morning eat a good breakfast and get plenty of sleep. If you feel ready for the test, you should be fine as long as you have prepared for the manoeuvres. With the actual driving, just stay calm and always check your mirrors. Try to indicate early, but make sure it's not too early that there's a turning before yours. Keep to the speed limit, if the conditions allow you to safely do that, otherwise slow to what you feel safe doing.
Do you actually have any proof of this?
I actually read the opposite but forget where.. to be honest neither are any safer, it's just a test the real driving comes after. There's so many variables you can't say who's safer.
I have a friend that passed 2nd time, he insists he's a better driver than me because of this statistic. Its really annoying.
Statistically people always say this, but never come up with a source/proof!
Just remember to turn your head when checking mirrors, sounds silly but the test is silly and that's what the examiner will be checking. Oh and check the rear view mirror at speed changes!
i passed 2nd time. 1st i miss heard the direction and was in the wrong lane so cut across(no cars at time) but i failed. Second time i messed up one of my manuvers but said **** it and drove out and started again which they are ok with. if you make a mess of it say so and start again dont dig a deeper hole. also over confidence is a bad thing you are supposed to be nervous!!!!

You can make statistics say whatever you want.
They're all BS.
Treat it as a normal lesson and you will be fine.
One good tip my instructor gave me was, TOTALLY ignore what they write down on the pad, just forget it's there (even though you will see it in the corner of your eye). A lot of people see them make an exaggerated mark and assume that they have failed so they give up when they have not actually failed but then go on to make mistakes and fail!
Go in to the test believing that you can and will pass because if you feel that you can't then you are not ready for the test.
I'd also like to see this statistic - if second time passers are so good, why can't they pass first time?

I had my test last Wednesday (first time) and when I was on a country road, I was doing 30 because I know what country roads can be like then some ***** flies round a corner, I swerved to the left slightly because he was so close to hitting the car and my examiner intervened as I nearly hit a large rock of the left hand side of the road I only got 7 minors and if it wasn't for that driver, I would have passed . I'm doing a resit this Thursday and I feel far more relaxed than I did.

The only explanation I can think of is if they fail first time, they would have done a major fault and suffered the consequence of failure. This means when they start driving after passing 2nd time they will think twice before doing something. If you pass first time your yet to experience the consequence of doing something bad while driving. So more likely to have an accident or something. Probably not true for everyone though.

Isn't that the whole idea of taking lessons though? Where you learn from your mistakes.
