First why is my PC probe so slowwww. Almost as if my computers crashed.

and about 10 mins in it starts complaning about the MB temp. its reaching 45C. is that too hot?

have u downloaded the latest asus probe from the asus website, u can change the MB temp warning in one of the options i think its under configuration, as for temps that seems a little warm have u got an active cooling on the board?

Ok will download new one. but is 45 actually too hot?
and which ones the motherboard temp? the chip set with the HS thast conected with the heat pipe?

and whats the critical temp of a conroe 6300?

yeah im reseated all the heat sinks including the graphics card one. there was really good results in the CPU one now that i got good thermal grease.

I just built my conroe rig, and everything seems fine except I have the same mobo temp as the op, 45c in Asus Probe 2 (which gives a warning). I've set the mb threshold to 50c for now, but I'd rather get the temp down. My cpu cooler also cools the pwm heatsink, so I think it's the northbridge that's hitting 45c.

I'll try a 60mm fan on it, but I'd like to know if this is normal for the P5W boards, or if it's Probe misreading the sensor? anyone else getting high mobo temps?

you might want to try a 40mm fan on it as it will fit better

Yeah, what I meant was I already have a couple of 60mm fans, so I'll try one of them for now (elastic band job) :).
I'll probably get a blue led 40mm next time I'm ordering stuff.

yeah i only just remembered to get some in this time for my new mobo whenever it comes out on the market :(

When I replaced the side panel on my case (with 120mm fan) the mobo temp dropped to 35c (from 45c) :D It's amazing what a little airflow can do, I was going to dig out a 60mm fan and put it on the NB, but I think I'll leave it for now.
I just wish I'd changed the paste to AS5 on the NB before fitting my Blue Orb cpu cooler, as it blocks the removal of the heatpipe/heatsink assembly. My cpu idles at 27c, and reached 35c while playing Oblivion so I don't want to disturb the Blue Orb if possible.

are you running at stock speeds

Yeah, It's at stock for now. I'll try clocking it when I've flashed the BIOS and ran prime for a while. I want to be sure everything is ok at stock before I start tweaking the cpu/gfx. It's all new kit, so if anything is faulty I want to spot it at stock speeds.
I've learned to be cautious with new hardware ;)
