Iv been meaning to get a new case after my new case usbs died. Now the USB ports on the back of the motherboard are not working. Well they are but...they keep reconnecting.

I keep getting this "USB Device not recognized " error pupping up on the task bar. Bad thing was i though it was just the case usbs into the motherboard. Now its happening to the USBS on the back of the motherboard. I tried this USB expansion slot thing what i got with my MSI motherboard. That just didnt work atol. Iv tried so many devices in different slots, i dont know what to do. Any ideas?

The motherboard USB slots DID work when i first booted my new system. Now today i wanted to use my webcam. so i spent 6mins disconnecting all the wires at the back of my case, pulling the case out, re routeing my webcam USB wire then pushing my pc back into place when i got everything connected.
Needless to say guess what happened? yes thats right. USB Device not recognized". So i restarted the pc, and IT WORKED! then 2 mins later, it kept poping up new hardware found, and it kept installing the disconnecting then installing etc etc. Iv installed proper drivers. its NOT JUST the webcam. My tablet is doing that, my external hd is doing it (even worse its causing BSOD and a failure on the HD cause its not working on my other pc but thats sortable. i know that problem)
all my power switch, reset switch, HD and power LED is working great.
I also have a card reader. Never worked on the new motherboard. I posted something about that earlier. No comment. The light on it comes on. the USB on my card reader works but its like all usb ports "USB device not recognized "

Please no replys about my device drivers. i assure you my tablet, cam, phone, usb sticks, usb rocket launcher are all upto date and where working fine till today when plugged in at the back of the motherboard.

Im 100% positive there its something to do with the MB so im asking anybody whos had this problem and fixed or anyone who knows whats wrong please give me a good direction on how to fix or what to do. Any help is appreciated. this page will be on till i goto bed. 23:00. So instant reply s unless i get told to go into bios etc.

MSI GD65 P55
Core i5
GSkill Ripjaw dual channel ddr 3

Any screenshots needed feel free to ask.
Reply as soon as possible please. My pc is out of the hole where its stored, want to get this done before my parents get home (tomorrow or saturday). they dont like it when im "messing"
Thanks.

Power supply issues? USB devices can misbehave if they're not getting enough power (has certainly happened to me in the past with portable hard drives etc), so perhaps check the voltage readings in the BIOS - see if anything is off.

Is it possible to check voltage to USBS in the bios? where should i look?

The USB ports are powered by the 5v/5v VSB line (possibly varies depending on board implementation, not sure). You can check the voltages in the BIOS health/status section.

Right give me a couple of minutes, ill go through my bios in deep detail to find something. Give me a moment

alright im going through the bios right now, useing my old computer. Cant seem to find any voltages on the usbs

noo im useing my old pc to speak on here, and i have my main pc sitting here beside me. so i can do what people say without restarting and forgetting what my instructions where

I can find voltages for CPU, GPU, RAM, and other components i don't know about. Nothing to do with USB. Will it be under another name instead of USB?

i got a driver cd with my mb, installed all software/driver without problems.

I can use a volt meter, just i dont wanna go touchy feely with my mb incase i short it. then im in deep.

Dont go inside the unit.

If you could cut a usb cable from an old unit, then bare the wires and seperate, then using the meter to read voltages.

I have used a freeware voltage reader for XP, I cant remember the name, plenty of good peeps will tell us im sure.

cheers for your help! ill try that, i have a old usb expansion slot what plugs in via motherboard (not my msi one) ill cut one of the USBs and check then. If success or no success ill report back with my readings - edit - Cant find volt meter, tomorrow ill look more then ill give readings!

another question, bios updateing. how do i do this?
