My wife would like a MBP 13". But...

She sounds like a High Maintenance product to me with little thought to personal finances. For what she is going to use it for it's a huge waste. Get rid and get a fresh cheaper to maintain model is my advice. It won't end there you know.

Did you read that from your Tea Leaves?

Nowhere does the OP complain about his wife being high maintenance or that this is just the start of things to come.

Sounds like uniformed anti-Apple rhetoric to me. But a £250 netbook can do web browsing...

What is it about a certain section of Apple fans? Have you had a total charisma bypass? I'll wager you are a comedians nightmare, think about it eh?

You dont buy a macbook pro for the looks... costs far to much.

a £1000 windows laptop will give MASSIVE performance over a £1000 mac book pro...

+1

I bought my MBP specifically for uni, Logic pro 9 and for use with my midi and firewire interfaces. Buying one for general usage seems just a tad overkill, despite how good they are/look.

If you're not specifically after something a mac will exclusively give you then look to a windows laptop and enjoy the better hardware for the £.

I find the comments funny and I’ll have to explain a little more. My wife puts up with a lot 16 years with me 4 kids and for a good few years not much money. Now the kids are older we can now both work full time and are starting to have some fun money. She has put up with my obsession with gaming PCs and how much that costs. So after many years of no birthday presents or Christmas presents of any note. I though I’d treat her to what she wants for a change. I know its a lot of money for what she will use it for and a windows laptop for the same money would be a killer machine. She wouldn’t be happy with it and why should she after many years of compromising. I guess it her turn to get what she wants for a change.
I will not like buying a MBP for £1000 but some times as a few will understand and the rest will come to learn happiness comes with a kick in the ass. This time its me who is on the receiving end of a kick in the ass to see some one else happy.

Good man :)

Get her the refreshed MacBook Air. She'll absolutely love it if she is only going to be using it for browsing, listening to music, watching videos and checking her mail. :)

I wish that argument or something on that line would work in motors :p

A update on the MBP.

I just orderd a 13" MBP from the apple online store had to do the finance but its half the %intrest than PC World and no deposit. All done, now for the rewards. let the good times roll.
I`ll be picking your brains for good software as im sure my wife will want to do more once she has her hands on her own MBP.

Does she know it's on finance? My wife would never let me buy her anything that way...

Anyway good luck. Once you go Mac there ain't no going back.

As for software - well that all depends!

Yes she dose, even though im not that old we still do the old school banking. Both are wages go into the bank. We pay the bills get the kids anything they may need school trips, shoes etc etc then whats left is fun money for days out, nights out. So it comes out of my share of fun money.

Although as long as she gets what she wants. She wouldnt care if I had one kidney or two.

Good news that you've finally ordered it but....

If she seriously doesn't care about your health and wellbeing and would sacrifice it for materialistic items, well.... :o

That was just a joke, my previous post on the bottom of page 1 explains how its about time she got what she wants for a change. Even though it gose against my better judgement. £1000 for a laptop.

Well the MBP arrived today and my wife is a very happy bunny. I cannot belive how logical the MBP is. So much easier to use than windows.

Did a Google on connecting the laptop to the MBP man complicated. So did it the other way rouund MBP to winPC. Plug in CAt 5 go to network allow public folder acces boom done. iTunes data and iPhone contacts synced. Took a while as it was a few gigs.

Just the way the OS is to use is so simple and logical.

Now just one more job to do. Get the wife on the OCuk forum so you good people can show her the more advanced features when she needs help. Other wise i`ll end up buying one if I keep using it. Its sooooooooo much nicer to use.
