My x1900's a tad bent

I wouldnt worry mines bent just like that too. When i first got it out the box i thought woah thats really bent is that. But it works fine so....

Ive also seen plenty of pics on other forums of other x1900's that were bent so that made me feel less worried.

St@nners..

I remember things being said about bending with the old Slot based P3's.

I think the verdict was bending on a pcb like that is unpredictable, it can mean that the any contact lines under stress are less reliable or on the other hand it can just mean nothing, if the bending was present from early on in the manufacturing.

If it were me i would wait and see if any problems developed, as i've used ISA soundblaster 16's that were so bent they had trouble being inserted into the slot.

Of course that soundblaster was nowhere near as complex.

Funy thing is i done a google for "bent x1900" and quite a few people have the same powercolour card as me and have the same problem with it being warped near the top end of the card. Kind of odd.

Hi there

I can verify that nearly all the X1900 cards have this bend, we build systems with ATI, TUL, Sapphire and Connect3D cards that are all bent in a similar fashion, yet they all function fine.

Mines like that too, Powercolor as well....

Not really thought much of it, I assumed it was normal as I too have seen loads of slightly bent X1900's.

What caused it though? You all say its not the heatsink, so what? Did they sit on them in the factory while powered up to keep themselves warm or something?! :p

edit: thanks for letting us know Gibbo :) One of the seals was broken on my X1900XT box, but the card was 100% dust free, so I thought nothing of it.

Thanks gibbo :)

Just gets a bit worrying spending £300+ on something to see it be a bit wonky looking :p

And as far as noise goes to those wondering, ive yet to hear the fan even attempt to spin up after a half hour of quake 4 @ 1680x1050. In fact i noticed my x800xt getting faster and louder more than this.

Gerard, by default, the fan spins at 27%, and won't spin faster than that until the core hits 80c! It will spin up to 34% (afaik) at this point, then spin down again once below 80c. For a lot of people (including me), having a £300 card running at over 80c sends shivers down spines!

I've set my card to run at 40% until 60c, then ramp up to 77%, then 84% at 70c, and 100% at 80c, I can't hear the fan at 40% over my fans, and I can't hear the fan belting away at 77% in game either!

I still want a quieter cooler though :(

Id have thought a half hour of quake 4 at high res and settings would have pushed it hard enough to get the fan revving up, so far its still quiet. :)

My x1800xl is bent, but thats due to my PCI-E power adapter resting on my HDD behind it and forcing the back of the card to ben to the same degree as yours. No problems here though and I've had it for a fair while :)

lol, I expected to see a GPU dressed up in leather with a handlebar tash,,, :D

One of my 6800's is bent, was because the power lead from the psu was too short pulling the back of the card up, I changed the psu but its still warped slightly,, runs fine though :)

80c no problem with today graphic cards...
You have no need to worry, because the x1900 cards auto clock down there core speed went they go over 95c.
