Had a few mates come over my place yesterday. The console was laying flat and I put the disk in. We got as far as the split screen section in MW2, when you click play nothing happens:( You can hear the disk stuck in a endless loop.

Took the disk out and it has a perfect circle around the outer edge!

The console wasn't knocked or anything. I'm now scared to try any other games incase it trys to eat that aswell:(

I bought the console and game from a 4 lettered highstreet store. I'm wondered if they would replace the game and possibly the 360?

Thoughts please.

Most likely not. Happened to plenty of my mates, they did knock them however. Doubt they will believe you. :(

i had that problem on my old 360, i had my disc repaired twice then decided it was enough and took the disc drive out to find a tiny bit of the pcb was protruding enough to scratch the disc, so i took some sand paper to it and problem solved .

I'm going to take the game in tomorrow and hope for the best. I just tested it again. The spec ops side works (Loads really slow though) but single player and mutiplayer result in the disk just looping.

Sounds like youve got a sharp crumb or something in your disc drive (it being in a perfect circle). The disc is flat when its in the disc drive but when it starts spinning, the speed of the drive can make an indent on pretty much any disc.

Check your drive to ensure it doesnt happen with your other games.

As disks can be bought in the condition you're describing, I remember one of the Lost Odyssey disks having this problem early in the games life, and there was a site posted up on here where you could get a disk replacement. If you fail with the shop, you could maybe try and get a replacement from MS.

If you go to a certain highstreet game shop, with "ation" at the end, they repair Xbox scratched discs for I think a fiver

The other place does that too, friend of mine nudged his 360 playing MW2 and it scratched his disc, repair fixed it.

I did the same to my COD3 disk, I emailed Activision and they offered to replace it for free for me. I just had to send the old game back.

In the end I couldn't be bothered to send it and brasso seemed to work!

Toothpaste also works, but only use a tiny amount and gently polish the scratch.

Oh and remeber to clean any excess paste off once done :p

Doesn't installing to HDD virtually stop this from happening?

Yup - the guy at work that had this happen didn't even know you could install to hdd :(

borrow a copy of your friend
copy it to your hard drive give it bk to your friend

SORTED ;)

Or maybe not sorted. I cant speak for all games but I purchased 2 copies of PGR3 from one of those well known highstreet retailers for £1 each, rude not too at that price. 1 for me and one for my partners nephew. Got home and 1 of the disks was quite badly scratched and would not get past the car selection screen. So off I went and installed the non scratched disk to my HDD so the nephew could have the working copy. All went fine, popped the scratched disk in and same problem as before disk read errors at the same point. Jumped back to dashboard and even though I had a copy of PGR3 on the HDD I had no option to play from HDD with the scratched disk in the DVD drive only play from disk or install to HDD. I did however have some G3 cutting compound lying around and now the game plays fine :D

happened to me with forza 3 too, but my xbox was upright, apparently it's because i moved the xbox whilst the disk was in, G'ation told me not to and cleaned my forza disk for free :D
