Anyone have/had these tyres?

I'm going to replace all 4 of mine next month and these are available for £40 each from mytyres in my size.

I've heard quite a lot of good things about them, saying that they're great in the dry having a soft compound, but average in the wet. For the price, I'd expect that.

They seem to wear quickly too, but having gone through a pair of front tyres in 6 months (:o) that won't really bother me.

I don't want anyone coming in here saying "OMG BUY EAGLES!!!!1122". I'm simply asking for opinions on the Nankangs.

Cheers :)

when we bought my gf's 218 it came with these tyres. They seem fine, offer plenty of grip and a nice ride. They've also got rim protection, plus a good tread pattern.

They dont offer huge amounts of grip in the wet, although the only tyre I've ever had that did was a Toyo T1-S. But they were bald in 8 months.

I was so chuffed with the NS-2's on the rover, I've just bought a set of 4 for the Fiat. I've had them fitted under a week, but so far its all good. My handling and ride is perfect. Mine were R16 225 55's. Rated to 149. £41 each and £50 fitting is hard to argue with.

Had a few sets of these and are great value for money. Paid £25 each for 195/50/15 on my focus which can't be bad, sitting in my boot waiting to be fitted.

Ok, they aren't Goodyear Eagle F1's or whatever, but for the price I would recommend them. Never had any problems previously but I guess its dependant on what and how you drive. Being a rover with that immense power maybe you should go for a premium tyre :p

Cheers guys. Sounds like they're worth trying, especially at £120 for a set. My front 2 are bald and I've still not replaced the rear tyre with the bulge... so I think it's time.

You better believe it. As soon as it hits 4k, I'm off in a cloud of blue smoke ;)

Ok in the dry (no more than OK mind) but very bad in the wet as long as you take this into account when driving with them! They were on a set of alloys I got for my focus by mistake, I paid £50 for a Toyo upgrade which they forgot to fit, so have to use them for a week, and I was glad to get them off to be honest!
I never condone skimping on tyres though so I wont, hope you dont have to stop quick in the wet!

What size did you have Oakesy? You sure they were the 2's and not the NS-1's?

I'm used to these Super Steel 595 ditchfinders, and I doubt the NS-2's will be worse than these. They're probably made of steel the amount of grip they have.

if your going through tyres in 6 months, then you should get your alignment done properly because it sounds like your car has a problem and investing in new tyres would just be money down the drain, have you considered used tyres-they are almost like new.

The NS-I has a terrible reputation, the NS-II's are meant to be massively improved. Can't really remember having any problems with mine in the wet. If you want outstanding performance you have to pay big bucks, get what you pay for :p

I got some part worn ContiEcoContacts on my old 214. I paid £25 each for them... very slightly worn. I don't mind paying £120 for a set of new tyres.

The reason I went through a set in 6 months (well, more like 8 months, and it's only the fronts that need replacing, the rears are hardly worn) is because my car is lowered and I spent all summer making them squeal :D

Tracking seems to be pretty much spot on though, although I will get it checked at the same time as the new tyres.

I thik they were the 2's. They were 205/40/17.
They were OK in the dry, reasonably predictable if not ultimately grippy, but they werent great in the wet.
Much better then supersteels though lol! my focus had them on when I got it on the standard 15" wheels, they came straight off the day after I bourght it they were really quite amusigly bad if you are used to these the nankangs will be like eagles in comparison!

Andy,

I was looking at the NS-II's a bit back for my Mondy, but after trawling through MEG, and looking at a few of the tyre tests on mytyres, I decided against, and went with a set of Falken FK-452s; £52 a corner from mytyres :)

I looked into them, was advised against it, on here actually.

Searched a bit on the internet for some reviews and what was being returned was...

"great tyres for invoking drifts"

I had them on my M3.

They were fantastic.

Enough grip to floor it in 3rd in the wet and not get any wheelspin.

Well reccomended from me.

Some mixed views... especially the M3

Will have a look at the Falkens (cheers Jon :))

All the people posting bad things about them, are you positive they were NS-2s? The NS-1s are shocking but the NS-2s are supposed to be much better.
